As of 5:58 p.m. A few thunderstorms are forming along a rain-cooled boundary from last night's storms. The upper-level winds at 10,000 feet may steer a few of these scattered thunderstorms our way mainly after 8 p.m. I am still not expecting a severe weather outbreak like last night. In the meantime, I will keep you updated.
As of 2:15 p.m. Looking over the latest....we will see maybe a few widely scattered thunderstorms this evening. But they certainly will not be as strong or widespread. Our nature had a lot of its energy zapped with last night's thunderstorms and they literally overturned the atmosphere which helped to mix down some drier air. The latest water vapor imagery shows this nicely. Tonight as warm, moist air makes a comeback we may see a storm or two pop, but with no frontal boundary around like last night we should be okay! I will have the latest on Live Doppler 18 tonight. The bigger story will be as our thunderstorm chances go down, nature will turn up the heat and humidity. Heat wave conditions are on the way. I will see you soon!

I'll be watching these storms as well let's just hope they dont go as lone as the storms last night so we can all get some rast.

I agree with Justin. I think I slept from 10:00-12:00, then from 3:30-5:30 last night for a total of 4 hours. My 6, 3, and 1 year olds slept through it all, but my 4 year old was upset with the very loud thunder! The kids get to sleep in but I don't! So nice out today, but of course our lawn is growing like crazy and must be mowed after only 4 days, but don't want to waste the gas on it yet. Chances for rain again Friday night still?
YAY! That is awesome news Mike!
Just so happens that my vacation starts in 2 hours and was looking forward to having some decent weather. :)
And hubby's boat is ready to pick up at the repair shop.... and we all get to sleep tonight...life is good :-)
I am thankful for the reprieve, but...with heat and humidty the next storm system is just around the corner!
Thanks, Mike for the great job...Kelly, too in the mornings!

sunny and 83* now
I feel for the person whose child kept them up all night. My kids are older, but my DOG went from room to room and woke up everyone in the house and continued to do so all night. I am hoping for some rest, too!!!!
Got some dark clouds moveing south east just checked the radar and look's like indianapolis is going to get hit.
Justin in Laf.
Justin, what radar do you use? sometimes I use WLFI other times Accu weather, when I click on Accu W. it gives me an error. Do you get the same????

YES - Sleep ! I will be keeping a close eye as to what is coming up in the next few days. When will we get a good quiet spell ? I have an outdoor wedding and reception to attend Saturday, but will only be doing so if the weather is good. What about Saturday Mike ? Thanks to all of you bloggers last night, because communicating with others who felt worried and scared was somewhat comforting and it did help me. Thanks, and hopefully nothing like what we have had will be happening anytime soon. I do hate spring and summer !
I use weather underground.

And I wrote the other day that I like www.weatherbug.com-their maps are very clear.
We are now starting to see some pop up storms in I'LL, south west.
They are moveing north east still right now we are ok.

Download the free trial version of GRLevel3
It is software that downloads all alavilable NWS radar's and smooths them for better accuracy, it is really a great product I have been using the trial version for over a year to chase storms. With the road map updates, I can see the storm at almost street level. Best product I've seen although when severe weather is near, I have the SPC's Conv. Outlook and watch warning maps open as well as intellicast's surface analysis, and the weather channel and TV-18 all running as well as GRLevel 3 open to KILX in IL and KIND in IN...
The storms are just now entering springfield I'LL, the cloud's are at 500FT and there is a possibley of some small hail. so far there have been no reports with this system. So far so good!
Justin in Laf.

How about a word from Mary Anne about how things are up by her? We are worried about you!
Hi, looks like another long night, the north looks wild by the naked eye, lighting high. A replay of last night???, it is calm here however a light show high in the clouds. I have a call into a cousin that lives in Jasper Co, she has yet to return. Hope she is okay
t
Storm system still moveing north north east. And yes your right it is another long night but this time it's not here in Lafayette I hope everyone is ok as well as your friend.
Justin in Lafayette.
It look's like the storm cell in jasper and newton have weekend just a little however the system just south west of knox is still strong.
Justin in Lafayette.
Clouds in newton and jasper are at 450FT so they have gone down.
Here in Lafayette I think we will be able to get some rest tonight and relax.
Justin in Laf.
Pulaski and northern Fulton counties were pretty significantly impacted with the storms that moved northeasterdly through the area in the last 2 hours. Baseball size (2.5") hail was reported in western Pulaski county and four Tornado Warnings were issued for portions of these counties as strong rotation was certainly detected across the region.
Hey bloggers! Thanks for inquiring aobut me :-) I was locked in a meeting with NO access to radar!!! AND...the siren went off here in REMINGTON who NEVER blows the siren~! Talk about freaking out. I am home safe and sound now none the worse for wear. I can breathe easier now looking at TWC and WLFI and my radar sites.
BTW...a good, free radar site can be found at www.nws.gov/Chicago OR the one out of Indy. Very user friendly.
Thanks for the info on GRLevel3. I have been going to check that out.

I am watching Tony Stewert's Eldora Speedway racing on PPV and will be here off and on :-)
My cousin who is working at Georage ADE health care center nursing home reported a tornado touch down on the west side of Brook in Newton Co. All are safe!!

i got excited eariler to see the lightening in the sky a couple hours ago...alas, no storm in lafayette. i'm glad to hear that no one was hurt by the large hail north of here, though.
but i have one question....who the heck sleeps at night?? that's when all the good stuff happens!!! who *really* wants to sleep through a storm? they are beautiful! you should take the time to sit and admire nature's beauty (from a safe distance, of course!)
Well it look's like lafayette is going to be ok so I'm going to try to get some rest I'm very very tired I'll look forwared to talking to all of you tomorrow. glad everyone is safe and talk to you later.
Justin in Lafayette.
The top of the 11pm newscast went "Unexpected Severe Weather."
Amazing. Many others had an idea, according to the Prediction Center's outlook and apparent outflow boundaries that had formed, that it was going to be another "potential" severe weather night. Wish you would have gone further at 6pm, like you were trying to. The storms had already formed! Dewpoint was 70. Split the difference, and that was Wednesday night's local forecast. Not one of the better days at the office. Thanks for your hard work, nonetheless, WLFI. Tuesday night went beautifully!
night, night, sleep tight, dont the the weather bother use tonight!!!! to all!!! Please!!!!!
t.
recently i have seen weakening of the storms and see them moving north so the line above lafayette will se rain
