Worst of the weather moving east!

Update at 3 p.m.

We are watching the worst of the storms now moving east of Tippecanoe, Carroll, and Montgomery Counties.

NEWS CHANNEL 18 WEATHER ALERT:A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR WHITE COUNTY UNTIL 5 P.M. AND A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEASTERN BENTON COUNTY UNTIL 6:15 P.M. DO NOT CROSS WATERS COVERING THE ROADWAY. IT ONLY TAKES ABOUT 12" OF WATER TO FLOAT A VEHICLE. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH CONTINUES FOR OUR ENTIRE VIEWING AREA EXCEPT BENTON, NEWTON, AND JASPER COUNTIES UNTIL 9 P.M.

No storm reports have been received from TEMA or other counties at this time. If you are in Howard County the worst of the storms will be moving through between now and 4:30 p.m. The main threats will be heavy rain and lightning with isolated wind gusts near 45 mph.

There will only be a few showers associated with the third line of rain that moves through this evening. I will be back with an update on the storms and your much better Father's Day weekend forecast!

The storms fired just to my east into White County. In fact, I called in a very suspicious cloud that hung over I-65 for a long time. I told them (JCPD) it looked like a wall cloud, which it did but was not rotating but looked like it could at any time. It was on the SW flank of the storm which worried me, too.

I have only recorded .01 rain and that came this morning. WX radio says Benton County (SE part) has had 3-4 inches rain. I am so sorry for those affected.

Radar to the west looks like a third line is trying to form.

Well look on the bright side, if you like yard work the ground is soggy enough to pull those ever growing weeds up easily.

And our water bills are lower for we have not had to water our lawns and gardens!!!!

Looks this line is staying north, however there are some pop ups already in ILL. Look to be severe, and heading in our direction. My alarm sounder at 8:00 am, what a surprise!!! I was sleeping in, and thought at first it was my alarm clock, yuck!!!!

Any way this watch is effect untill 3:00 this afternoon, then another line is moving in.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO THE DADS OUT THERE!!! ENJOY YOUR DAY

Anonymous said...

The wind is now dying down here in Laf it was all bcause of a system tracking just to the north of lafayette that kicked up the winds.

Justin in Lafayette.

Anonymous said...

For the system comeing later Im watching some bowing in it which means high winds with this system.

Justin in Lafayette.

Anonymous said...

were the storms north that strong to cause such high winds in Laf??

Was that just a teaser as to what is to come tonight????

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Rain is very close, 10-20 mins or so, the worst of the storm will be in our area as Justin said around 7:00, I think this system is moving faster than what all thought.

Anonymous said...

Ok thanks guess I better hurry up and finish baking cookies and get to walmart and my moms b4 it hits...the storms always seem worse there bc the winds so I bet I will be a bit freaked.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

If you live in Benton Co, keep your eye to the sky , this one may miss you however it does contain hail. Now for Laf..... storms keep forming, we could be in for the strong winds and hail, Were is our new radar that is to be posted on WLFI,,the timeing process! "RIGHT IN OUR OWN BACK YARD"

Anonymous said...

It came up so fast!!!! The power did flicker, and took awhile to get computers up and going again.

Trees limbs are down ever where, I want to go for a drive, but my daughter wont go, for now she knows that storms can be very dangerous!!!!

Anonymous said...

Hope all the dads had a great day the storms aside.

I just spoke with my mother, she lives off of Kossuth St. She said there is a HUGE limb laying on her neighbors roof. she said it looks as though this giant tree just split in half. she is without damage to her home thank goodness. I cannot believe we only got 0.25 of rain, the roads were flooded. There is still standing water everywhere!
