Developing Snowstorm Thunders Our Way & Has Forecasters on Edge
It is incredible that .25" of ice has been reported in Frankfort with this system and reports of freezing rain have reached all the way up to almost Michigan. While the freezing rain has held down forecast snow amounts it looks like thunder snow tonight can more than make up for some lost time. Snowfall rates could be in the 1 to 3 inch per hour range based on the latest data and discussion with the weather service offices. The question of the night is exactly where will that thundersnow set up. So right now it looks like a solid bet that many of us will see that 10 inches of snow, but there will be a few of us with at least 14 inches of snow and even more depending on where it thunders. This storm has gone to the beat of its own drum and will make plenty of noise before all is said and done. It needs to be watched very carefully that is for sure. Our weather team is ready.

Thanks for your quick Updates Mike!

Let it snow!
Associated Press - December 15, 2007 8:44 PM ET
Snow, sleet and freezing rain hit much of Indiana today, and the National Weather Service says more is on the way.
Meteorologist Chad Omitt says tomorrow morning will be "nasty." Snow is forecast for overnight, with winds of 30 to 40 miles-per-hour from the northwest causing blowing and drifting.
Still, the weather service has reduced its total accumulation forecast. Accumulations of 4 to 7 inches are predicted for Marion County, with 6 to 9 inches forecast for the Kokomo and Muncie area and upwards of 10 inches possible around South Bend and Fort Wayne.

Thundersnow!!Bring it on, I've never experienced that before! Great job Mike on all of your updates. You are doing a great job!
TO ALL THE HATERS
Seriously guys & gals, Mike isn't a Winter Storm Mind Reader, He can't tell you exactly how much its going to snow, He can give you an estimate on how much snow we will have. No meteorologist can give you a 100% assurance on a exact snow amount. One thing Mr.Mike is, he's one hell of a meteorologist. I give him two thumps up!, and Ill put all my money on him anyday.
Keep up the good work mike!
First of all I wanna say Thanks Mike and GREAT JOB!! I agree with snowgirl I keep checking this blog every so often for updates. I hope we get alot I was looking forward to 20 inches. My fingers are crossed.
You rock, Prangley!
Your dedication to the updating of this community is hugely appreciated by this fellow weather-nut! Just came home from the Jeff HS choir production, and man, is it coming down! And what an incredible production, by the way!! John Satterfield and staff do an outstanding job!!!
Mike,
I just got home from the Twin Lakes - North White game and my car was ice covered with snow on top. The roads were slick and it's really coming down here in Monticello.
Thanks for all of your updates. You're the best meterologist blogger in Central Indiana.
Thanks for all you do Mike! We moved up to the Columbia City, Indiana area but still check in on the Lafayette forecast to see what is headed our way. Even though Fort Wayne is much larger than Lafayette, they do not have a "Mike" quality meteorologist anywhere to be found.
I am in Frankfort Where The ice is getting intense. I left my parents house to go to my house, and withing 10 mins of being home my car was iced over again.
Let me echo the sentiments of these posters and thank you for keeping us informed via the blog. I feel sorry for those who do not have access to these resources.
Buckster I would like to correspond with you as I am another weather nut!
We have 2 1/2 inches snow here at this time.
Mary Anne in Remington
3 INCHES HERE IN SOUTH LAFAYETTE!!
Mike,
I've been an avid fan since you came to WLFI.
I love watching your "n"eve-rending energy and committment to your job. You always tell us what may be but always with vim and vigor.
Please tell the viewers again what "Thunderstorm"is.
I don't think I've ever experienced it.
I meant: ThunderSnow
Your doing a wonderfull job Mike, would like to see thundersnow again, seen it about 8 years ago, truly an awesome sight.Still looks like 10 inches here in Laf.if thundersnow happens could be talking more.
Around 10 PM the snow eased off in NW Benton County, could even see the moon for a while, moon is gone again, but can see security lights a mile away. There are still people out working on the wind farm ! But according to radar, its just a dry slot.
Do you have the next weather blog.
Thanks for all the updates! I check your blog often! I work in Flora but commute from southern Tipp. county! It is nice to have the updates when no one else does! Thanks again WLFI weather team!
Update Mikey!
