Mesoband Pounds Parts of the Area, Over 1 Inch in Last Hour In Lafayette

We have a 20 to 30 mile wide band of heavy snow on Precision 18 setting up. It stretches from Fountain and Warren Counties through Montgomery County. Areas to the northeast including Clinton, Howard, Cass, and Miami Counties will see their wintry mix go over to a heavy snow as well. Cities that will likely be included in this band are State Line City, Attica, Lafayette & West Lafayette, Delphi, Burrows, Logansport and Mexico....the southern edge of this band includes Kingman, Crawfordsville, Frankfort, Tipton and Kokomo. A band of 3 to 6 inches is likely, while much of the rest of the viewing area will stay closer to that 1 to 3 inch band. The big difference-maker has been cold air wrapping in about 4 to 5 hours earlier than expected and incredible dynamics from an upper-level low pressure moving through south-central Indiana providing perfect lift to areas about 100 miles to its northwest which includes Lafayette. We are in the proverbial sweet spot of the storm. Be careful on the roadways and send in your snow totals please. Thanks!

Same here-I also have classes all day and evening at Ivy Tech and it seems like since classes start that every Tuesday I am driving both to and from school in either thunderstorms, ice, sleet or snow or as it was today-all three at once! I am very, very glad they cancelled the evening classes because I was not looking forward to driving in this weather at night!
