Well, here it comes again! The snow is really coming down across Lafayette this afternoon. This is no surprise. I really thought our heaviest snow that would fall from this complex system would be during our Friday afternoon and evening. Please be careful out there. There will be a quick two to three inches of snow by 7 p.m. Last night we surpassed last winter in snowfall and we were up to 32.8 inches. So we will add to this total. Keep in mind during a normal season we only see 22.4 inches of snow. Last year which will always be remembered as our blizzard year, we had 32.1 inches of snow. This is now Lafayette's snowiest winter since 2002-03 when we had just over 41 inches.
Now at the rate we are going I think we could break 40 inches. The La Nina will stay strong through Spring and I think it will bring at least 6 or more inches of snow over the next few weeks and once the snow melts we will have to worry about severe weather. But that is a story for another day. Stay patient and I will let you know why this winter is well on its way to being our stormiest ever in addition to how we stack up against all the other winters for snowfall.
I have been battling the Lafayette flu for the past week, but feel my second wind coming now. I ran a hard 6.25 miles today and my legs and strength are back! This means the blog will be lit up with pictures and great stuff once again. I look forward to catching up with you after a bit of lost time. Wait to you see the WOLF PARK LUNAR ECLIPSE and PAUL HADFIELD DECATUR ECLIPSE....incredible! I wanted to thank Steph for a great hair-cut today and sticking up for me after all of this crazy weather this winter. She reminded a couple customers that I only forecast the weather and absolutely do not make the weather. Sometimes that is a nice reminder for all of us. But based on some of the stats I just shared with you above I understand why some are really upset and on edge with this winter. Maybe I could print up some T-Shirts that say we all survived the Winter of 2007-08. It may go down as one of our roughest winters since the blizzard years of the 1970s that is for sure. Check back and I will have the cold hard facts, and also talk about 50 degree weather possible next week for the warmer weather lovers. Patience! See you soon.

You are right Mike! We all want to blame someone, but it's an educated guess when it comes to Indiana weather! Thanks for doing a great job and dealing with some unhappy Hoosiers!
Mike!
Here is hoping you are feeling lots better.
Thanks for mentioning Paul's name and his pictures. He does an incredible job of documenting weather no matter what season!
It is just starting to snow big flakes here in Remington!

!Thanks Mike, hope you are getting over the Lafayette Flu! Kids and teachers are dropping like flies!
Its now snowing, very heavy, My daughter and my self are home today due to the bug. We are big fans of your bloog, so in between tissues, and sneezes, we are able to play on the computer today. My daughter enjoys trying to forcast the weather, she has met you at her school and thinks you are "cool"! Thanks to you, my daughter and I have another common interest. the WEATHER! She is only 14 and wishes to take a class so she can be a weather watcher, perhaps in another few years. You stay safe yourself and thanks to all at TV18
Oh goodness Mike, I forgot in my last bloog, my daughter wanted me to write that a T-Shirt saying I survived the winter of 07 and 08 was a great idea, She had the idea that perhaps school kids could help in doing so, not a contest but an all out effort, and that the proceeds go to the flood victoms as well as our local animal shelters! what do you think? How can I contact you regarding this issue? I think it's a super duper idea!
Hey Mike!
Just wanted to let you know that nobody at the Simon household blames you for our crazy weather here in Lafayette! We have a saying, which I'm sure you've heard before..."If you don't like the weather in Indiana, either drive 50 miles, or wait an hour and it'll change!" Hope you get to feeling better soon, this bug going around is NO fun. Take care,
H Simon
Just got back to Lafayette from Indianapolis, and it took over TWO HOURS. Had "ice balls" in Indianapolis and near "white-out" snow in Lafayette. Travel on the interstate is only 20 mph.
Mike we miss you when you are gone. Keep yourself healthy. This is a great thing you are doing. Weather in Indiana is 50/50 wait 50 or drive 50 it will change. We really appreciate you here in Remington....
here's the link to my eclipse. you'll probably need to copy/paste the url. p

I really love the T-Shirt idea - it has been a long, rough winter. Not that I mind the snow - but I want the Wabash to go back down to a more comfortable level (like last summer).
I hope you continue to feel better. I run also - it is an amazing feeling you get, when you have had a good, hard run.
Take Care and Thanks for keeping us informed, even though you have been under the weather, yourself.
Much Respect

I also love the t-shirt idea, what a wonderful idea to put a positive spin on this gloomy winter...my suggestion is make them in bright beautiful spring colors..the animal shelter is a great idea for proceeds..count me in
To the last blog, thanks for "counting you in" Now we need to put our heads together and figure a way to do this, Mike its all you fault! Kidding, you made a wonderful remark, and now the wheels are spinning. We need to pull together and make this happen.
My daughter is doing better from the flu, however not over it yet. She is the one that wishes to see a fund raiser happen, will do my best to at least try.
Mike,
Wishing you the best in your Flu recovery, it has been an absulute bear this year!! I am also looking forward to your eclipse pictures that you promised us in last Friday's blog.......don't forget!! Your weather pictures ROCK!!
I sure hope we only get an inch, but it's sounding awfully scary by others' accounts. That low's position could spell trouble. The weekend predictions could turn into a nightmare by Tuesday pm, and wish Lee Ann would have let viewers know that even the littlest of difference WILL COUNT. I hope she's right and we only get an inch out of winter's-last-gasp. This looks ugly. Respectfully, a fan. (WLFI does great work. Keep it up!) Thanks.
thanks mike for keeping us informed and safe from this wild weather we've had this year my girl and baby both thank you.
