The blast blasted through Monticello and wasn't what I expected. I've been waiting on this storm for a few days and it looked like it was going to hit us really hard. The transition was fairly smooth.

That doesn't mean to let you guard down because it looks like we have more coming. Looks like Laf should be getting wet really soon.

Right now, its dark and raining pretty good. The winds have calmed way down and doesn't look as crazy as it was earlier.

I will be checking back in once we are out of the clear of that mess over in Champ.

Yes it is really really dark and no wind

Yes Teri And this is because of a cell coming out of Fountain County! It will have to be watched closely! As strong winds! Could gust near 70 mph.

This is a strong system! Looks like it could clip south Tipppecanoe and montromery, County

Justin.

There is still some rotation in the storm cells in Clinton County so if you live in that area please be safe and know that a tornado is possible! This dpes not mean you will see one it just means there is a chance!

Lafayette we look pretty good rotation wise! However we are still in this tornado warning till 6:pm so we will keep watching!

Thats the site I use to get my reports!

I'M up to .76" inches of rain!

Justin in Lafayette

Looks like the southern part of the state is going to be in for some storms...I have a temp of 53* and a steady rain...

Gald all has calmed at bit for Laf..my friend who lives in WL has some wind damage. He had a car port that was coverd with a heavy tarp, held down by steaks in the ground and cinder blocks.

The wind caught the tarp and the cinder blocks went flying over his van like they were weightless..the tarp ended high in tree..wood frame of the car port was also blown down..He called me and asked if we had just had a tornado..stated sure sounded like so... and by the damage.. wow some strong winds!...

Teri in Laf

Anonymous said...

WOW Teri at least he is ok!

I to have a steady rain I'M now up to .84" Inch.

It just keeps coming down! But I will take rain over severe thunderstorms anyday!

This has really been a wild ride of weather! Indiana is for sure the place to be if you like wild weather just about every other day!

Thanks Justin and MA for the SPC info :-)

To the person who asked if SPC would report damage in their area---not unless someone, usually a trained spotter or CoCoRaHS reporter sends it in. I am an ESPOTTER, and also report through CoCoRaHS (which again anyone can do--they always are looking for wx observers so if you are interested, ask. Justin and I are both reporters.) meaning through the NWS I send in stats of storm damage, rainfall, etc and it gets posted. Everyone can be an espotter. Go to NWS-Indy

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ind/

and find the place where it says "send a report" and away you go! I have to go through Chicago as Jasper and Newton Counties are on the line between Chi and Indy (in other words NO man's land--we used to get left out alot)so they asked me to report to Chi. I sent in a report to LOT tonight and it was posted.

MA in REM

(up to 1.17 inches rain) Thank you God for no flooding rains.

Anonymous said...

Things are looking SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better on radars!!!!!! And mary Anne I'M glad to hear you are not seeing flooding rains! That is great new! ;-)

This has been a wild day! We seen Tornado watches and warnings. We seen severe Thunderstorm watches and warnings. We seen wind Advisories. And we still have flood warnings!

What a day!

Not to forget we hit a record high! Back in 1971 on this very day there was a high of 63* degrees! Today I had a high of 67* degrees.

In December! That ius something!

Have a great night bloggers!

Currently I have 1.08" Inch of rain! And it is still raining! I will post my final total on here in the morning!

Justin in Lafayette

Anonymous said...

hey everybody I'M seeing winds as a guess of at least 45 mph wind gusts if not more. I'M loseing power the lights keep going out for about 5 SEC and. The good thing is I have a lap top so I will have about an hour after the power go's out on Battery!

If I lose power I will let you all know!

And the wild Indiana weather just keeps coming! :-( Teri If you are up how are things your way??

Justin in Lafayette

Anonymous said...

I see a line of rain that is passing over our area! With this line there is a Nice size bow! In it!

WINDY WINDY WINDY! I also heard on the waether radio winds around 45 mph!

Justin in Lafayette

Anonymous said...

I've lost power just south of Lafayette twice, but then it comes back on. Hopefully it will stop soon.

Anonymous said...

just north of Remington, winds are 25 sustained and gusting to 45, temp down to 36 - another wild Indiana night!

Anonymous said...

Thats what happend to me Is I lost power twice! Then it came back on! It has stayed on for now and I'M happy about that! I think we will be ok as the line of rain that caused this wild wind is moving out of our area!

I was watching a movie with my sister when out of no where we started to hear this loud wind and thought I should check it out and come to find out we had a bow in the small rain system that was moving through!

Justin in Lafayette

Anonymous said...

The winds are starting to die off now! Still a little windy at times!
My current temperature is at 39.6* degrees. My total rainfall as of now is 1.12" Inches!

I will catch you all in the morning! Lets all hope the winds slow down and the power stays on!

Night!

Justin in Lafayette

Anonymous said...

Wow....had a wind gust at 49 mph at 1:50 a.m. It has been howling all night. Just had another gust at 32 mph. Temp at 29*

We do have some creek flooding. Not as bad as last Jan, thank you God!
