Just checking in....here is what you need to know. The worst of the wind will from Sunday at 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. Monday. Wind gusts will be from 35 to 45 mph. I have isolated wind gusts near 50 mph Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. and once again Sunday night from 9 p.m. until midnight. This will make driving very difficult so be careful.
Tidbit number 2: Heaviest rain holds off until Sunday night. Here is the breakdown:
.25" of rain
.05" of freezing rain (early Monday moring between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.)
.15" snow (possible light dusting....mainly an inch or less between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.)
Huge temperature drop over 40 degrees likely!
Outlook for rest of week: Mainly a rain event now for Thursday...but models may be having a tough time addressing how much cold air will be in place...stay tuned.

Hey Justin you there????
Hi, Justin and all bloggers, I was just listening to my NOAA radio, it was stated that we could receive an inch of snow and sleet mix by Monday morning. Low of 29* by morning as well, I hope they are wrong!
One never knows about Mother Nature, and as Mike stated "models may be having a tough time addressing how much cold air will be in place...stay tuned". Will do.....
Hey everybody I'M here now I had to catch the Colts game another WIN!!!!! :-)

Justin in Lafayette
Thank goodness we may not get alot of rain with the temps dropping so fast over night.
A winter wx adviorsy is in effect for come counties North of Tipp.
Yay for the Colts Justin:))
Bundle up for tomorrow! Going to be a bad hair day for some of us LOL!
Teri in Laf
What happened to good old forcasts? We used to be able to log on get the forecats and radar. Now we only get radar and blogs. I dont want blogs, i want real weather forecasts!! Thank goodness the weather channel doesnt brag about puppies, or what their kids ate for lunch! They tell the real story!
Hey Anonymous I bet you are 100% all the time right???
Mike you are doing a great job :) Hope you had a wonderful weekend off with your family!
A lot of bitter posters on here today!
I agree with the posted above you do a great job Mike and we all Love your Blog!!!!!
I have rain showing up on my radar and some gusty winds around 40 mph!! Hang in there Bloggers! :-)
Justin in Lafayette
If you dont want weather blogs then why are you posting? This is a friendly blog where most share a common interest the weather!
And sorry to say, disagree with you regarding the weather channel. they do not get right to the forcast most of the time, yes 8 on the hour is the same old stuff, all day, not much updating.
I have watched animal rescue stories, healthy eating, how to fix a furnace, home repair, ect how to grow a beautiful flower garden, on the wx channel. Go to their web site and you will see out dated forcasts and pics of puppies and kittens, and tons of adds!
MY,goodness!!! I agree with Justin, and most who post on the blog.
Yes Justin, has been a drizzle off and on for awhile. I have been watching trash cans being blown around.
I for one enjoy this blog, reading about puppies and what kids had for lunch. I appricate Mikes forcasts, passion for weather and watching out for us.I also appricate our blogger friends.

hey all you should check out the accuweather radar lite up like a christmas tree! The wind is getting really strong
My lights are flickering, I hope we dont lose power!
Teri in Laf.
I can hear the wind against the house. Part of our Christmas lights came down outside. :( I just hope the roads are okay in the morning.
My lights are flickering too, Teri! And the winds just keep getting stronger it seems.
It sounds like a constant roar out there! Nathan, I just went for a short walk, tried anyway, the wind is so strong, makes walking tough!Dont want to even think about driving!
It felt like I was being sandblasted with all the blowing leaves and all. Christmas lights down all around, as well as some small branches! Well there go the lights again:)))))
Teri
that is :((((((
I dont even want to think of my child standing out side waiting on the school bus if its going to be like this or worse in the morning.
I will keep him home! This is dangerous
Hey all I just saw my photo I submitted is on the weather pic of the week, It is the one of the deer. Vote for me blogger friends LOL
Teri in Laf
I'M going to go find your picture and vote Teri!!!!! :-)
This wind is strong hang in there!
Justin in Lafayette
There you go you got my vote!!
Teri if you don't mind me asking How did you get such a great shot and close up??
It is really good!!
Justin
Oh me oh my!
That is some wind tonight! We were out at Lafayette's Living Nativity, and I just knew that the star of Bethlehem was going to go flying off of the manger, over the church, and land somewhere back in the boat of the disciples! lol
BUT, I checked the blog this morning, and read ahead that it would be this windy. So, I was not surprised.
What is up with the sour comments. Do people not remember that this is the season of peace and happiness??? I really love our little "community" here. Like the blog, enjoy the puppies, and even like to hear about lunches. ;) Thanks for a fun place to talk about weather Mike!
Annie in Attica
Justin, She was rooting in the leaves, if you look close she has a dirty nose. Was a full body shot, but I thought her face was just to cute so I cropped the photo.
Thanks for your vote!
Do you have any tree limbs down in your hood?
Teri
I can not believe it but no I don't have any tree limbs down!!
But it is so windy out there that whae you walk out you can't hear yourself think!! LOL
Justin in Lafayette
LOL Justin, that is the truth. I need to get some sleep, but keep hearing things banging around out side, I am worried about my neighbors tree coming down on my car.
T
I love the picture, Teri! You got my vote! :)
Thank you Nathan, I need to get to sleep. I have to get up at 5:00 am. My windows are rattling, and keeping me awake LOL
All be safe in the morning.
See ya all on here tomorrow!
teri
The dog is going crazy thinking that someone is knocking on the door! Just the wind, silly dog! :) Time for bed, if I can get to sleep. Drive safe in the morning everyone! Brian said sleet beginning at 7 am, right when I leave for school! AHH! Not looking forward to it!
any mix or ice monday or tuesday no ones seems to be talking about this storm
In the near term...cold front currently pushing through the western parts of the
state. Should be east of the local area by sunrise. Models/Sat data
suggest best lift lags a bit behind surface fnt...with surface observation
indicating a fairly rapid changeover to freezing rain/sleet a few
hours after frontal passage. Appears changeover should be over the central zones
around sunrise...and over the eastern zones by 15z or so. Main lift zone
is fairly narrow...so only xpctg threat for sig mixed precipitation to last for
only a few hours this morning...before tapering off by after. Based on
above...planning on an advisory for mixed precipitation all areas this morning.
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 am EST /9 am CST/
this morning...
The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a
Winter Weather Advisory for a mix of freezing rain... sleet and
snow... which is in effect until 10 am EST /9 am CST/ this
morning.
Rain will mix with sleet and freezing rain... and then change to
snow with rapid freezing of surfaces by 6 am EDT... 5 am CST.
Some areas of blowing snow are likely before the snow ends.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
kinda cool Lake Superior

Heavy freezing spray warning in effect through Tuesday morning
Northeast winds up to 30 knots backing northwest late. Freqeuent gale force gusts to 42 knots after midnight. Snow. Waves 15 to 20 feet subsiding to 12 to 17 feet.
Heavy freezing spray
I cannot believe all the school delays, but LSC! Is bad out there, my car doors are frozen.and car is covered with ice.
BE SAFE
Thanks Mike...don't listen to the nasty people......by the way, take it easy on the roads bloggers, it is ICY.
Hey bloggers.
I have .46 inthe rain gauge this morning just under a half inch! Only a trace of snow on the ground! not much snow wise!
Cold at only 13.5* degrees I went outside earlyer this morning and did not have gloves!! Boy I'M nuts!! lol.
Justin in Lafayette
Hey everybody we need to keep a close watch on our wind chill today and tonight! Tonight winds will be between 15 and 20 mph. Making it feel like -7* degrees out there so keep yourself covered and stay warm. Hat gloves and all that!!!!!
For Tuesday cloudy then snowy later in the day! with some possible sleet as well. Which could give way to some freezing roads! As of now sometime after
4:pm the timing will change so we will have to keep up on that!
Totla percip around a quarter inch possible.
I'll catch you all on here later.
Justin in Lafayette
Thank all of you for posting the weather, I have come to rely on your expert predictions. My husband relies on me to tell him what is going on.
Thanks again.
Expert Predictions?
oops, sorry!
Sounds as tough it's going to be another night of leaving the faucets running, cold, cold, cold. Brrrrr.
I have been hearing about freezing rain on Tues night...wonder how much.
Teri in Laf.
I agree with Teri, what is the timeline for Tuesday?
ML
opps sorry about the typo error:)
ML, have you been checking the radars? I just got home from work, and I am not updated at this time.
Did you have and wind damage out your way?
Teri in Laf
Starting to worry about Mike. It's not like him to let his blog page slip. Is he on vacation? My oh my...we have come to rely on his insight!
Don't you just get furious with bloggers who leave nasty and negative comments? This has become a community of friends who are interested in weather AND each other! I like it very much and know most of you do, too.
Anyway, could you believe the temps last night? My high was 54* at midnight! Then to wake up to 10* was something else! Flash freezing caused many doors to be frozen shut this morning. My peak gust was at 38 mph! Has this been spring we would have had tornadoes flying around. I have friends on the east coast who were affected by the ice storm. Anyone remember the ice storm of 1991? pics look amazingly similar.
take care until later!
MA in REM
I just watched Mike on the news,(tv) :)) sounds like he has been busy watching an approaching storm! Could get nasty by Tues afternoon and night. As a matter of fact all week!
Teri in Laf.

Justin in Lafayette
