Nuisance Snow and Ice Cause More Slick Travel

The Prangley grill shows a light coating of snow at 12:45 p.m. It is a very fine snow that will quickly add up in this very cold air mass. Normally I would have forecasted less than an inch of snow but the cold air or what I call the fluff factor could bring many areas snow totals closer to two inches. Roadways will become slick and hazardous as a changeover to freezing rain occurs this evening.

This by no means will be a big snowstorm. But it will be just enough to cause big problems on the roadways. Please go slow and be safe. Latest model data in here at high noon confirms one to two inches of snow is on the way with ice accumulations of freezing rain up to a tenth of an inch possible. There may be a couple spots in the northern tier of our area that remain all snow. These areas could see closer to 2 to 3 inches of snow and they include areas of Newton, Jasper, Pulaski, and Fulton Counties. Temperatures will barely make it into the middle 20s before falling back to near 20 by morning. Wind should not be a big issue with wind speeds less than 10 mph. A winter weather advisory is officially in effect for most of our viewing area through 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Send in those pictures and be safe!

Thank you for the update. I hope the children are safe coming home from school, and I hope there are no delays tomorrow! My 3 year old daughter is in preschool and if it is cancelled she is hysterical! Less is better. Stay safe.

Looks on radar like the snow is moving rapidly North. Hopefully it will be out of the Lafayette area soon. Anything more than a dusting is to much. Drive carefully.
