Historic Snowstorm for Deep South & Winter in Charge Here at Home

The big swirl you see over Nebraska is our upper-level disturbance that will turn into a cut-off low pressure in the Deep South. Snowflakes could fly as far south as Florida and heavy snow will be possible as far south as Atlanta. It could then turn up the Coast and finally give Washington, D.C. its first real snowstorm now that meteorological Spring is here. The amazing part of all this is that we will have better travel weather in Indiana than down in Tennessee, the Carolinas, and even parts of Alabama, and Georgia. We should not be complaining about our single digit wind chills over the weekend and those few stray snow flurries.

Even better news is the drier weather will help river levels to start dropping by later on Sunday. Forecast crests will be in the minor range. You see the Wabash River crest at Lafayette cresting at 1.7 feet above flood stage on Sunday. The Covington river level will be cresting at 1.2 feet above normal. This is great news considering most areas have had about 200% their normal precipitation this month not including all the snow melt.

Things should be nice and quiet for much of the coming week and this is the perfect time for me to take my best friend and wife on what you can call a Ground Hog Day present trip that was planned. I think she liked her Valentine's Day gift this year. Remember we celebrate it on Ground Hog Day! I wanted to make sure you knew that I am taking a few days off and will be back on Thursday. We are starting up a new and improved weather blog on wlfi.com and will have more details coming. Right now it is under construction and I will be taking time to help finalize this transition so you have the best weather blog possible.

My wife and I are looking forward to a few days away and cannot believe we will be all alone. I want to thank my mother-in-law for coming in from Wisconsin and helping out. This will be kind of like a second honeymoon for Julie and I. When is the last time we had a trip for 5 consecutive days alone? It may have been our honeymoon cruise almost 14 years ago. It is fitting we are going back to our private place we got married at. It is our get-away place that I feel every couple should have. We may have waited too long, but we found a way back and most importantly back together.

Do not worry! Please do not look into this more than you should. I do look forward to coming back to Indiana to take you through the rest of March Mayhem. It should be a fun month that is for sure! We need to get our picnic planned as well and I think a mid to late April picnic should work. If we wait until May I may be called into work to track tornadoes with you and it may spoil all of our good food and fun we will be having. So we do not want to wait too long to set up our weather watcher and blogger picnic. I will also work on T-Shirts with brow and promotions when I get back! It will be fun! Now it is Julie time!! Keep on blogging and have a great weekend. I do have a lap-top I can check in with you on. I always like hearing what you are doing and of course all your great weather stories and observations!

I will also get the opportunity to get away in about 22 days. I am going to Florida for spring break. Just to be able to get away for awhile, it will heal our brains. I think if we all were able to get away, we would would feel better, and have a better perspective on things.

I am so excited for spring coming. I gotta get the grass seed ready!

Hey fellow Bloggers!

I got good news!..........We will start to warm up a little again by Wednesday! This is good news for all you wanting warm weather and for it to be Spring like!

It was sure cold last night with a low here in my area of Lafayette of only 23.2* degrees..... COLD!

But knowing that we will once again warm by this week should help get us through these few more days of cooler weather.

The good old Cold, has hit my house as my Doggie Dobby, got sick this weekend! Poor little guy did not leave the bed all weekend! I have been up with him until at least 3:30 Am the past two nights. Good news is he is getting much better and looks much better today! Just a little doggie cold! :-)

Have a good day bloggers! And enjoy the rest of your weekend....................

Hi blogger friends and weather watchers!, Today may be my last day for blogging, due to economic times, I may be forced to give up my internet connection. I do know there are free sites and I am checking in to those.

MAN OH MAN!! I hope to be able to blog and track the weather with all of you. At this time things look grim.

However I am hoping things will work out..I am bummed.I dislike my internet provider and the cost is out of my field at this time, Just in time for tracking T-storms..darn:)

Teri: I hope you do not have to give up the internet. I really do enjoy reading your posts.

It sure is a cold Sunday afternoon. There was quite a bit of lake effet snow showers in Berrien County this morning as I drove home. For some reason, it did not bother me as much as it would have in Jan./Feb. I guess it is because I know we are coming to the end of winter. Also, the sun angle helps.

Thank you F/C, hope to keep things up and running. I just received this email...Nasty, so tired of the cold.

Our cold weather rolls on! Tonight skies will remain mostly clear as lows drop to around 12 degrees. A few spots may hit the single digits. Expect wind chill values of -5 to 5 tomorrow morning, and another cold day Monday. Highs to start off the work week will only be around 30. We could be close to 60 by Friday.

Went to Benton County for daughters indoor softball practice. Wow...the flurries were coming down. On way across 52 to Lafayette, visibility got down to 1/4 at times, but no snow accum. It did look like someone shook a snow globe and it was pretty, but by the time we got done in Lafayette, the flurries were over. Teri...geesh hope you don't lose your internet. I would sincerely miss your posts and your recipes.

Hey Richard,

I was looking at the Climate Prediction Center or the (CPC) and for our 6 to 10 day outlook we will be slightly above average temperature wise and for the 0ne to three month outlook we look to be right around average for above normal and below normal days for temperatures!

I hope this helps! :o)

I will check back with a forecast or as I like to call it a Quick Cast Blog Cast........Here this evening!

Have a good one!

Quick Cast Blog Cast..........

Here is what I got as of 6:18pm.....

We do have warm weather on the way but first we have another cooler day TOMORROW with highs in the low to mid 30s and SUNNY SKIES! Winds light and calm between 5 and 10 mph.

WEDNESDAY....We will see another day of partly cloudy to sunny skies with highs in the 40s getting warmer and winds between 10 and 15 mph. With even warmer weather to come!

THURSDAY....We really start to feel like Spring in more ways then one! Thart's right we will see highs in the low 50s with off and on light rain showers. No nothing to cause any problems most models have it only around .10" inches which is light..So this would be an off and on here and their deal.

We will see some light rain on FRIDAY as well light rainfall is expected again nothing to cause problems. Around .10" With highs in the upper 50s around 57* degrees. And Even some more light rain on SATURDAY! Again Off and on light showers possible.

After looking at the CPC for the next 6 to 10 days we are expected to be above average on not only temperatures but also precipitation. So yes we will see the spring like weather and the rain to go along with it!

We could even see a stray thunderstorm Sunday into Monday so I will watch this closely as we keep getting closer however this is around a week away and as we all come to know on this weather blog is that things change ever so much and so fast so lets not worry about that right now..... However keep your umbrella in your car for the next few days this week and keep those rain gauges out and ready to go!

We will be wet as we head into next week and things should be fun to track here and in other areas!

Wet But Warm on the way! We can't have it all..........:o)

Hope this helps you all.......... Have a great evening!

Justin.

Teri, I use 4 point networks out of Lafayette and my internet is only $44.00 a month, high speed wireless. It does cost to get the equipment but I believe they have a payment plan for the equipment to get you started. Service has been great. Only time I have lost my internet was when power went out and I am out in the country in benton county. You might give them a call.

Cindy

Teri,
We pay 19.99 a month for our DSL through AT&T. It is alot cheaper than broadband or wireless. We have no problems with the speed for 19.99. I think you can get it as low as 14.99 a month.

Where have all the bloggers gone?
No exciting weather, but all used to blog regardless.

Anonymous said...

Theres no such thing as "No exciting weather" To me! LOL.....Everyday is Fun!

Quick Cast..........

Today we did start to feel a little better temperatures wise as my high here in Lafayette was right around 35* degrees and it felt rather warm at times! However it did not last for long before we started to cool but once again!

Well, more warm weather is right around the corner this week as we can thank a warm front for pushing through on this coming Friday where we will warm to NEAR 60* degrees with highs right around 57* degrees..... Now you know that this warm up can't come without a price! We got rain coming as well...

Rain on Thursday starting sometime after Noon time and going off and on through out the day! Also a little Breezy with winds between 15 and 25 mph with a few gusts to 28 mph possible.

Rain on Friday! With rainfall expected to be around .10" inches so light this time! But the heaver rains are coming.....

More Rain on Saturday!!! Will it ever end? lol.....This is where we could see slightly highier amounts with Lafayette currently around .10" inches and north of Lafayette around Newton, and Jasper, Counties only around .25" inches possible. It all comes down to where will the Low track! If it stays to our north then amounts will be less yet. So nothing real big at this time.

And last but not least more Rain on Sunday with rainfall currently expected to be between .30 and .75 here in Lafayette with still that chance for closer to an inch possible but this is believe it or not a far forecast! And I'M sure this will change as we head into the weekend! So we will just keep watching this.....

But for all the warm weather lovers get ready because it looks like at least the next four to five days will be in the 50* degree range! Wet but not to bad!

I myself am ready for some warmer weather but not to HOT! :o)

Have a GREAT NIGHT Bloggers!

It was a nice day yesterday with a high in my area of Lafayette of 48.2* degrees and if that was not enough we seen that warm sunset!

Well, warmer temperatures today with great grilling weather! Yes we will still see some rain but it looks really light and not until sometime after 12:00pm this afternoon. Rainfall looks around .10" inches or less.....This time! Friday and Saturday we will also see some light off and on rain showers. The good news is this is not an all day wash out! As we head into Saturday night into Sunday! We will see the rainfall amounts get higher and even a possible thunderstorm... Saturday we will see rainfall amounts in Lafayette stay around that .10" inch mark and slightly high around .25" inches north of Remington.

Saturday night into Sunday we will see a heaver band of rain move in along with that possible line of thunderstorms which I want to point out currently does not look to be severe. At this time but I will keep watching and keep you all posted as needed. Rainfall currently looks to be between a half inch and three quarters of an inch possible for the Lafayette area and around Remington, between three quarters of an inch to "Maybe" An inch possible. However as you know we will keep fine tuning this as we get closer!

But today you can grill out just be ready for a little sprinkle later on this afternoon.....I did my grilling yesterday and BOY WAS IT EVER GOOD!!!!! :o) Have a great day.....

Today is my dogs Birthday he is six years old.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOBBY! Have a good one Bloggers.
