Fading La Nina Will Take the Sizzle Out of The Summer of 2008

Alright! Here I am sticking my neck out like a turkey once again. It comes with the territory. Whenever you forecast 7 days in advance it can be challenging. But when you are talking about forecasting several months into the future you have to be a little crazy and brave. I am using a combination of my experience, education, and tenacious attitude to forecast your summer outlook. I have looked at every conceivable long-range map over land and the oceans across the entire earth and I am now ready to reveal your summer forecast. Drum roll please! If you do not like hot summers you will not have to dunk the meteorologist at this years White County Fair like you did last year. I think our 90 degree days may be cut in a third. Notice poor Deion below after playing in our annual Buckingham Brawl basketball tournament. The relentless heat of 2007 strikes again!

This year Deion will be dunking the basketball with one hand once again and taking names afterward, except against my team of course! :) That is right Deion I have been working on my game. I am not just a runner. But we may pay the price in the form of nature slam-dunking us with above average rainfall. Flooding will once again become a concern. I will never forget the floods in June of 2004 when some parts of our area received over 10 inches of rain. We have a similar pattern shaping up this year, but hopefully we will miss out on the worst of the flooding. This year will be a mix of the summer of 2000 and 2004. The hurricane season I am worried about as well with the East Coast of the U.S. ready to take several hits, but I will hold off on this forecast until late week. Much more to come on your summer forecast....make sure to check back! This was just an appetizer.

Hmm this is a little odd to me..I was hearing a lot about global warming and while I was reading, I dont remember what, it said how there are scientists who say its getting colder and how the ice cap is melting around the outside but getting taller. I dont know how true this is but we had a bad winter and now a cooler summer, posibly. I just hope we will have lots of swimming weather.

There is a possibility of severe weather later? Keep us updated, I will check back often, esp as evening approaches. To the person writing on the blog above me, try reading Michael Crichton's book "State of Fear" (available at the public library), it is about the opposite opinion of global warming, that it is overblown by the media. Interesting reading for all.

And I, for one, am glad to hear this summer will not be as hot as last year! I thought it was horribly hot, and of course, dry.
