We Spring Forward & Spring Weather Continues!

Good Morning! I got a little rest last night and am excited to catch up on all of our Indiana weather. Make sure you turn your clocks forward before you go to sleep on Saturday night and change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Once we turn our clocks forward our sunset will be at 7:47 p.m. You add in the the twilight and we will have daylight after 8 p.m. we can all enjoy. Now the question is will we be able to go outside and enjoy the extra daylight. Yes! I still think we could see our first 70s of the year as nature has already turned its clock forward by 3 months! We do know here in Indiana if we warm up too quickly that it can bring strong storms and we will have to watch for a round of strong storms this weekend. I will be back later today to talk more about that and even have another sign of Spring for you which includes a much higher pollen count. Spring has sprung in more than one way! I am going to go get my 8 mile run in and get back to work. We have tons of great things to talk about tonight on the air and here on the blog. One last side note: We are about 10 degrees warmer than many parts of the Deep South this morning! What a pattern!

Snow Hound Update: We will see snow again this year but the real chance of sticking snow will not hit until we get closer to St. Patrick's Day.

Hey everyone! Its been awhile since my last appearance here but I have still been reading everyday.

On top of busy working, there was about 1-2 weeks where it wouldn't allow me to post...every time I hit publish, it would just reset everything. :(

Anyway, like a Hoosier, I am wearing shorts today and I feel so free! :p

Enjoy the warmth before the snow comes back!

it was kidna funny yesterday I saw a lady in shorts and a tank top and the lady besides her was wearing a coat and gloves and even a scraf lol

Uh, snow? Seriously, we have got to be kidding. But, then again last year we left for spring break to go to Florida, it was snowing. Nothing stuck, but it was cold. I can believe. But, this is getting really really old.

Shouldn't our average temps be around the 50 mark. So, we are expecting a cold front to support the snow? Winter like days are numbered. Isn't snow and Flurries completely different definitions. Shouldn't flurries be the word being used now..lol.

Its nice to hear about spring, but to see the ugly word snow. That is truly a smack in the face. :)

Hate hearing the S word again. Getting used to this warm up, kind of spoils me. March is an up and down month on Temps so I can live with it...I guess lol.. So ready for warm weather to stay.

Accuweather says 2.87 inches of rain the next four days. Not to worry thou. Check back in a couple of hours and it will probably say something different. And then two hours after that and two hours after that and -----------

Hi all, hey we reached 70* beautiful!.. people are jogging, walking, and kids are riding their bikes.. Love it!

I check accuw this AM and it had us in for 2.38" of rain, changes all the time with them.

Nice to have the windows open and let the fresh air in!

Are thunderstorms on the way?? hope not, I am scared of them

Anonymous said...

Am loving this warm weather! Got windows and doors open and breathing the fresh air!

Anonymous said...

Yep--when we have temps this warm this early, you bet we will have T-storms. We just went under a flash flood watch until Sunday morning with the chance of 1-3 inch rains, locally more, in thunderstorms.

Teri--the yuck is lots better today I have not taken anything for it and can still breathe!

It is GORGEOUS out there today! I love this temp at 70*!! Could take this year round, sorry you hot wx people! I have enjoyed this winter, albeit it was a LONG one.

Charlie the Cat has been enjoying the sunshine in the open window out here!

MA in REM (get lots of sleep tonight to get ready for storms--OH and set the clocks forward tomorrow night THANKS to MITCH -grr--rr-r-r)

Dr. Forbes was just on the Weather Channel talking about a possible tornado outbreak here next Tuesday.

His map had all of Illinois and a little this way into Indiana shaded (Lafayette was probably right on the edge) and he said the forecast could change since it's still several days away...but right now he said the forecast for next Tuesday would be an outbreak of strong, long-lasting tornadoes.

I'd like to hear what Mike has to say about this.

Anonymous said...

I just saw Dr Forbes, too, on TWC and saw that same outline you did. The good news is we are on the eastern most area of that shading (which could change by then) and I beleive he did say the worst threat would be close to the apex of that low which will be in IA/IL/WI area. We should always be on guard and stay tuned to all wx venues whether that be here, TV, NOAA Wx Radio, or all of them which is what i do!

MA in you know where!

Anonymous said...

Thanks MaryAnne, now I AM REALLY GOING TO GET THAT BOTTLE OF WINE!!!! I am already scared! I just turned on the weather channel

Anonymous said...

I had to sleep most of the late aftn and evening....I have to pull the overnight shift at one of my jobs tonight....UGH!!! Keep the good thoughts flowing!

Chris in Tipton

Anonymous said...

Yeah MaryAnne, we were on the eastern edge. I didn't hear him saying near the low (I think that was a different day that you are referring too)...he pretty much just said an outbreak for Illinois but I noticed the shading moved into Indiana and we were on the edge.

The SPC Day 5 outlook for Tuesday mentions the possibility for severe weather, but that the models diverged too much right now to warrant a higher severe forecast.

Will have to check SPC tomorrow and see if they add a Day 4 severe outlook. Right now I don't see anything on Accuweather or Stormtrack either, so Dr. Forbes surprised me a bit.

Those are usually the places I look along with Mike's blog.

Dr. Forbes should be back on any minute in case anyone wants to see.

Anonymous said...

One of the Accuweather forecasters actually has us in an extreme severe weather outbreak area for Tuesday.

Anonymous said...

I think you are absolutely right about a differnt day with the Tor threat close to the low.

My advice would be to just check every radar site and info we can to stay in touch. I hate it over a weekend, too since our weekend Mets are from Indy? I think Mike has assured us he will be around when severe wx strikes!!

Where is JUSTIN???

Justin's Here!

Been real busy today! I did get out to do some spring cleaning! With a lot of birds and it sounded so NICE!

I hit my WARM high of 70* degrees! Which I see was reported all over the area! ;o)

Yes storms on the way! With that chance for storms on Tuesday! I think we should get through this line of storms for Sunday beofre we start tracking Tuesday! Like One of you said earlier! "It has much time to change" And it really does! Right now my maps have us seeing more rain around a half inch maybe a little more on Tuesday and the slight change for some Thundersroms. We all will be able to give more info and fine tune everything as it get's closer..........

Otherwise Rainstarting later tomorrow evening to night and Thunder as some will be heading out around 7:am or so!

Everybody should get there sleep tonight and be ready to go for Sunday!

Otherwise Saturday is looking mostly cloudy maybe a few peaks of sun and mostly dry!

Justin.

By the way, this is Ven with the updates tonight about Tuesday.

I will try to post more here if I find anything out.

There is a reason for concern of severe storms. I have my weather radios up and ready!

Good to see you Justin! Wondered where you were. Dont blame you a bit for being outside today!

Morning all, what a good nights sleep I had! slept with the windows cracked open, Oh the fresh air and cool breeze:)

Looks strange outside,
like the lull before the storms?

Big storms in Iowa, moving NE! another line forming in MI.

Better get some coffee in me and start on some out side cleaning before the rains and winds hit. I have trash that had blown in my yard from Thursdays winds. Some one in the neighboor hood must have had box of styrofoam peanuts, they blew everwhere, made a mess of 3 neighbors yards:(

A Temp of 57.7 in Laf.

See you here later.

High wind occurring on Mar 11. Maximum sustained 22 mph (maximum gust 41 mph).
High probability of thunderstorms occurring on Mar 8.

If you are watching an regional or area radar you can see storms are starting to form in Newton and Jasper counties (northern) so the air mass is becoming more unstable. Justin get up and man the helm LOL!!

Oh and I have .01 rain so far.
