Temperatures Plummet & Slick Roads Return
I still like a half-inch to one inch of snow across the area. The snow should be heaviest between 8 p.m. and midnight before it settles down. Temperatures will only be in the middle to upper teens by morning but more importantly wind chills will be near zero as you can see above. Usually computer forecasts cannot handle the dense, heavy polar air masses as they move down from Canada. I like to subtract at least five degrees from the numbers you see above to get a real idea of how cold it will feel. BRRRRRRRR!
The bigger snow system I am watching arrives Friday night into Saturday morning. I will have more on that tonight at 11 p.m. and it even has an unusual name you may not have heard of. Right now we should have no problem seeing two to three inches of snow. The real question is can we squeeze out five inches of snow in some areas. See you soon and send in some snow pictures if you can along with those totals. Thanks for all your help!
Visibilities across Illinois and northwest Indiana have dropped to near one mile so this snow will cause some problems on the roadways in a hurry. Be careful.
Here are those all-important rainfall totals from our weather watchers. What a difference a week makes! The rivers will not be raging this time around but continue a nice slow fall! You can see nobody out on the John T. Myers pedestrian bridge and for good reason as those bitter winter winds have returned. Just think those 70s will be here in two weeks!

Boo hoo!!! :( I really wanted to go to a conference in Bloomington this weekend but now I'm too scared to travel :( I don't mind snow but not when I travel :( Oh, I hope I don't have to stay home this weekend :(

Be on The Prangley Team ...not bet!!!
Darn! My post got wiped out from posting at time time as Richard :-/ Anyway, I was just gonna cry about the snow :( I like snow but not when I travel long distances :( I wanted to go to a conference in Bloomington this weekend but now maybe I won't cuz of the snow. I'm not sure if it would be safe to travel :( I'm guessing it would be okay but maybe better if I stayed home? :( idk :( Boooo snow this weekend :( :( :(
I am anxious to see how this weekend storm will come around... will we be closer to 6" or closer to 2"? Will this be our last major snow to track this winter? Will we have any ice events as we head into March?
Chris in Tipton
Maybe this will be our last snow!
Being a fan of winter...I hope this is not our last snow!! I am so ready for one really good snow!!!
I am in the minority...but I don't mind a good ice storm either. Just as long as it isn't a surprise...so that people can stay off of the roads. I think the ice is beautiful!

Snow is good (except when traveling, yes, still crying about that) but please, no ice storms! :( I don't want the power knocked out. Regular snow seems safer ;D
Don't know if this is a double post or not but I just got home from taking my husband his supper and we are having snow flurries in frankfort.
Lanna in Frankfort.
Hey all is getting foggy in Laf! and now is raining.. Be careful!!
Teri In Laf.
Check out the radars. WoW! and the temps are to drop even more? Drizzle and fog in laf
Just checked radars looks like mainly snow.I personally want spring. The spring flowers growing
the warm misty air. The birds flocking to be here. The smell of spring is so to be here. The flowers are growing in little buds.
They to want to be loved by someone.Weather is changing everyday, and without people and friends whats the point of our day.
Snow is no longer welcome!
snow is starting to fall in Laf. mixed with rain, temp 33.0 degrees
The snow has started here in Lafayette and is even sticking rather well at this time.
It seems to be a moderate snow. We will keep seeing this snow until early morning tomorrow. Off and on snows will give way to snowfall between a half inch to maybe an inch possible.
We will be seeing some gusty winds tonight into tomorrow as well between 10 and 20 mph with a few gusts to 25 mph. This will make our forecasted temperature of 17 tonight feel like -2* degrees to 0* degrees. And we will keep seeing these cold wind chills from tonight to at least this weekend.
Yes we will be a little slick on the roads tomorrow morning. With a half inch to an inch of snow on the ground you should allow yourself extra time to get where you are going and drive slow until roads start to look better.
Any standing water tonight I'M worried about it would be freezing. So remember your winter driving tips and you will be better off.
Justin.
Oh I agree, snow is MUCH safer....but ice is pretty if you can stay home....and WE KEEP THE POWER ON!!!

snow is flying her. My deck it is collecting on. Ugh! Windy too! Hopefully we don't get too much snow.
Richard, glad you like the site! My pair of geese were on the pond this morning and alot of animals are feeding....they know Indiana weather!
Jamie
Mike I really did not see to much rain but it looks like my final Rain total is 0.04" inches.
Justin.
Hey guys,....just got home from a meeting...if you have not been out on the roads, DO NOT go out! It is wicked out there. Wind is howling in the 12-15 moh with gusts to 22 mph and the rain has changed to snow, with lots of freezing going on! Slick underfoot and I would imagine travel on highways and interstates is a nightmare right about now. Temp is at 29*--gust to 21 mph while I am typing.

I am all for more snow ! I would like one really good one especially on a weekend, so we can stay in and snuggle up with a good book, movie and a loved one. The kids would really like to have one more for sledding and building a monster of a snowman to remember all summer long ! I make cookies and hot chocolate to warm their little bodies ! COME ON SNOW !!!!
Snow forever & thunderstorms never !!
ROMNEY SCAREDY CAT !!!!!
Trace of snow in Attica and the wind has picked up!!! Temp right now is 28.8 feels like 15 degrees.
Speaking of geese in the above post. I dont think they migrated any further than Indiana. Our fields have been full all winter from them feeding on grain. I remember yrs ago that Dad would make mention of the geese headed N and S but dont recall ever seeing them around here like thay are now.
I am sad to say that after looking at the latest model data...I only see a couple of inches - MAYBE 3 in my area...up to Lafayette....areas far north may get a bit more.....This one will not be the one that I had hoped for.
