You can see the wet snow sticking to some of the trees around the area. Be careful on the roads as this slush turns to ice this afternoon! Thank you Justin New for sending this picture in! There are no days off for meteorologists or bloggers. :)
Here is the latest as of 8:50 a.m.
Today: We will see another band of rain and snow changing to all snow by 10 a.m. with a quick half-inch to one inch of snow expected by late day with falling temperatures into the upper 20s by early evening. Wind chills will plummet into the teens with a west southwest to west wind at 15 to 33 mph.
Slick roads will be developing this afternoon and tonight with the much colder temperatures and while we will not have a big snow we will still have to be weary of icy roads as temperatures do a free-fall. Even though we will have a wet snow today, some blowing and drifting snow is still likely as our light snow covering dries out quickly in the arctic air. Winter weather advisories continue across the northern tier of our area where I expect accumulations in the one to two inch range and a little more in the way of reduced visibilities and blowing and drifting snow.
Now it is off to the Prangley family weekend......it will be crazy with tons of things going on but that is the way I like it! If anything changes I will check back and of course I will be back to blog with you later on.

Mike,
Thanks for the update on your day off. Enjoy the family and will see you on the blog later on.
Thanks for the update. It has started snowing again in Rochester, with a high temp. of 32.4 degrees as of now and with winds of 5-13 mph.
F/C
We got the snow here in Lafayette as you know. It is a wet snow but still got the gusty winds as was expected blowing the snow that is currently falling all over!
Justin.
Goodmorning all, this is Becky from mmonticello. i can tell you it started snowing here in monticello at 5;04 am, for approx. 10 minutes it was really coming down fast and big flakes, but now we are just small flakes but fast. our ground is covered.
Enjoy your family, MIke! Thanks for the update. The wind has switched to the West and has picked up greatly. The snow has to be mixed with rain, or as I call it, "snain". Miserable out there for sure!
Temp is now at 30* with a west wind at 15 gusting to 25 mph.
I am making homemade chicken and noodles! What are YOU doing??
You can still have that SUPER SATURDAY!
MA in REM
Our mixture just changed to snow. No accumulation so far. :(
Chris in Tipton
Nasty here in Laf. reduced visibilities are becoming an issue! Side roads are slick and mushy slushy snow. Mail truck was having a rough time!
Winds still out of the south! high temp this am of 38* now is down to 32.1*
Be careful out there!
Teri in Laf
I wonder if the warmers temps that are to be expected next week are going to become the new norm?
Apparently we should be around 40 this time of year for the average temp. I am sure that average bumps up more so after we hit march.
Bring on Spring. Though, I think winter went fairly fast, but it is so getting old. I would love to keep my car looking good for more than one day. Plus, I get so sad in the winter. :(
Temp has dropped to 29* and I am SURE glad that I changed my travel plans! It is still snowing. I have recorded .01 in the gauge. (Liquid)
Got to stir the noodles!
MA in REM
Mary anne temperature is still falling here as well. Snow still coming down and as for liquid .2" in Lafayette.
Yes Teri Roads are bad and will keep getting bad as thre day goes. Temperatures will drop fast with lows tonight in the teens!
Wind chills in the zero range.
Justin.
Radar looking wild! midwest is all blue!
The system is moving fast. Looks like the snow will be mostly over in Tippecanoe county in an hour or less.
Is BEAUTIFUL out there! huge flakes,
Wish we could have had this snow for Christmas!!!
This system looks like a big comma, I wow if this were a thunderstorm!
i got 0.6 inches of snow and 0.11 inches of precipitation on the south side of Lafayette.
Just got home from Purdue, traveling to Frankfort no real trouble except 38 from about Mulberry to 39 very slick. Be careful out there, I saw that 65 South was shut down, never know when you might hit a slick patch on the road.
Lanna in Frankfort
The snow is over here...we have a nice covering of snow.
Chris in Tipton
Its really windy here in Attica!
Temp is 27 degrees
wind 27 - 38 mph
Right down blustery cold out. I was gonna go out and do some errands but those errands can wait.
Really a good day to watch BB and just lounge around. :)
Richard
Yes Richard it is blustry out there, I have been watching the news and ya know what? It was so cold . . .the politicians have their hands in their OWN pockets! At this time LOL! Just a joke!
ey mike thanks for the update!
just got home from the boat and travel show in indy. lucked out and had decent 70mph speeds on just wet roads. as we got near lafayette seen the crash on i 65. our lane was up to par and moved right along! other lane was not so fortanate. just read that two people passed in that accident i feel for the familes and prayers r sent! if u all would have seen the car u would understand believe me was not a pretty sight. for us 25 and 65 and 421 were in decent shape. if u can do NOT take the americas to sr 18 (delphi bypass as i call it) it is ice covered and VERY VERY slick. as a mater ofact the lil s curve closets to 18 a fool was flying around the corner luckliy i was paying attention and actually took the ditch he was not to far from us when he slide sideways right by my door. that was the only close call. enjoy the rest of ur weekend all
scott in monticello
Yes Scott glad you are Safe! I just read this OMG, say a prayer and all be safe!!!
TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana State Police reported four vehicles had been involved in a crash around 12:30 p.m. Police confirmed two people are dead. The crash happened on I-65, at the 164 mile marker, about four miles from the State Road 38 Dayton exit in Tippecanoe County. Emergency responders are currently on the scene. Police said both the north and south bound lanes are closed. News Channel 18 is also nearby. Stay tuned to wlfi.com and News Channel 18 at 6 and 11 for more details.
forgot to sign..Teri in Laf.
Oh no! did that happen in the north or south bound lane?? My hubby went to the show should be home by now. and I cannot get a hold of him by cell phone!!!!
Scott glad you made it home! Was you sporting that new boat? :)
Sorry to hear about the accidentI feel for the families in a time of tragic loss. Keep them in your prayers everyone.
Politicians with their own hands in their pockets .....LOL Probably would never be to cold for that. I was amused by that statement.
Richard
Oh gosh! I'm sorry for those families. I hope the previous poster gets a hold of her husband. I guess it's a good thing I decided not to travel also. Everyone said, "Yeah, go, it's close by, just drive slow." Glad I didn't go.
The roads are very slick so everybody please stay safe and be careful.....
We stayed home and made some home made pizza! It was so good!

Justin.
One more thing!
We will be seeing the snow flurries off and on through out the rest of the night and still some lingering snow flurries to snow showers tomorrow!
I'M seeing some bigger flakes right now as winds will be with us till later on tonight then they will start to calm down.
Wind chills will be around that zero mark to -2* degrees tonight so dress warm if you have to go out!
Please do bw carefull of the roads as my street in my neighbohood is like a sheet of ice!
Be smart and be safe! Have a great weekend!
Enjoy your Pizza! ;)
Justin.
Oh my Lord,, go to wlfi home page read of all the horrible accidents happining all over the place..At least 3 deaths! This is so tragic.
• Interstate traffic snarled
• 2 killed in snowy interstate pile-up
• Two dead in I-69 accident
• Carroll County roll-over crash leaves one
I did read about the two killed. Please everybody if you can stay home and I know not everybody can but if so it would be best!
All the slush we had earlier is now freezing and is making things dangerous!
Justin.
Justin you are right about the roads, all is getting crunchy and very slick, I know I was out in it.
The accident is tragic. I read about it on J&C on line as well. keep all in your prayers..
Teri
Justin your pizza sounds wonderful! have not been to the home page yet, but am mighty glad I changed my travel plans today! Always listen to your gut! That is your guardian angel speaking to you!
so sorry for the fatal accidents. How are roads Lafayette and north, anyone know? I have a friend in Laf who needs to travel home this evning. Thanks for info!
MA in REM
Roads are not good in Laf.. Still snowing and blowing! Plows have been out yet there was ice under the snow and the slush is freezing. Check this out!!!!There have been several slide-offs in the area between Lafayette and Remington because of slick road conditions. The road conditions are ever changing because of the blowing and drifting snow.
The area between the 193 mile mark (U.S. 231) and the 201 mile mark (U.S. 24) is experiencing blowing snow and this is causing very slick roads. Several other vehicles have slid off the road in this area.
People are asked to travel only if it necessary.
"We need to leave our phone lines open for emergency calls," said Sgt. Brian Olehy. "The best sources for road and weather conditions are media outlets. "Citizens can also access road and weather information by going to our website at: www.in.gov/isp or by calling the Indiana State Police Road and Weather Line at 1-800-261-7623 (for statewide conditions).
Olehy is asking motorists please use the following cautions when driving:
Allow extra time
Be aware of ever changing conditions
Have a full tank of fuel when you set out
Keep a well stocked emergency kit with your vehicle at all times
Reduce Speed - Motorists are required to travel at a speed prudent to the current conditions
Beware of sudden stops
Keep more distance between vehicles - DO NOT TAILGATE
Hang up cell phones, and drive with caution
MOVE OVER AND SLOW DOWN when approaching emergency vehicles (this includes highway trucks, tow trucks, ambulance, fire, and police vehicles)
sorry for the typos...tragic!

scott in monticello (s in m)
to blogger who posted to RICHARD about same boat....bass boat for sale...where do you have it listed? Craig's list or eBay? need to put one up for sale, too.
TIA
We took a trip to Indianapolis this morning around 11:30. US 52 was horrible, almost slid into the median countless times. Road conditions didn't improve much when we got on I-65, but there weren't many people on the roads, which makes it easier for the plow trucks. On our return trip, it wasn't bad either, just a few ice patches. I did, however, see sooo many people speeding in these conditions. It's not hard to slow down!
Go to WLFI home page and click on community and you can list ads there for sale or wanted to buy.
Richard
Thanks for info in selling boat.
anyhting to help. :)
Richard

Psychologist warns of serious health
issues

NEW YORK - A researcher says that making too many friends on Facebook , MySpace and Twitter may be killing you.
Psychologist Dr. Aric Sigman, writing in Biologist , the journal of the Institute of Biology, says that too many online interactions and not enough real world interactions could lead to serious health issues. These health issues could lead to cancer, strokes, heart disease and dementia .
Sigman concludes , "While the precise mechanisms underlying the association between social connection, morbidity and mortality continue to be investigated, it is clear that this is a growing public health issue for all industrialized countries."
In another paper from 2005, Sigman also warned of the adverse effects of too much TV on society. In a paper titled " How TV Is (quite literally) Killing Us " published in the UK's Daily Mail, he wrote that TV viewing is "the greatest health scandal of our time."
One columnist in England says she will keep on friending people online and says she has never been more connected. She writes, "Social networks are the medium, not the message."
Hey bloggers!
Jamie glad to hear from you again! and no problem about the pizza post! ;) It is really good!
Hey all I have my final snowfall total and I have 1.0" inch I think we all did a great job on calling this system.

Hi prang gang,,,sun is shining here in monticello,, whoohoo !!! hi jamie glad to see you back on here, also hi ma, in rem.. i hate to admitt it guys i am one on the bigge4st snow lovers but iam ready for spring.. and summer.. iam mtired of getting out of my warm bed at 2 am and delivering papers in the cold. Hope each of you have a good sunday, and are able to enjoy the day with loved ones or friends,,, Becky
sorry about the typo's errors,, Becky
Glad I had a chance to come in an catch up. Seemed like there wasn't enough time in the day this past week or so. Did check the forcast tho since some of my job is considered outside too. Becky would have to agree with you on the snow....love it, but am just about ready for the spring and summer months. oh and think everybody did a great job on calling the weather. It was nasty wet snow and once those temps dropped yesterday and the pick up snow in the evening. You didn't know if there was ice under it or not. Didn't matter if we had alot of snow....what mattered was the roads were terrible and people on here kept us posted as to conditions. Which is great.
Jamie...oh thanks for the welcome back :o)
Thanks for posting my picture Mike.
It is a good day today with partly cloudy skies and I have a current temperature at 11:19AM of 36.9* degrees. Still going up as well.....
Justin.
