Warm Front Just the Cure for Cabin Fever

We could see highs near 30 today which will be about 50 degrees warmer than yesterday's low and we no longer will be colder than the actual North Pole! It is time to celebrate. Be careful of some blowing and drifting snow today with those gusty winds. Otherwise, our Alberta Clipper will bring less than a half-inch of accumulation this afternoon and tonight. Be safe and I will check back. What a difference a day makes. My dog is no longer running from me when I ask him if he wants to go outside. Speaking of dogs....check out Teri Trents beautiful babies...Sassy and Tyton! It is a good thing they were kept warm after some of the cold hard facts you see below!

Have a great weekend and I will catch up on some long-range forecasting and WILL let you know when our next BIG ONE or big snowstorm could be on the way and if we can expect any more arctic outbreaks this winter.

Then please explain to us why Antarctica is melting and Polar Bears are in extreme danger of becoming extinct before our childres life time! I have friend who just returned from there.

He told us it was very beautiful and quiet however every few mins he would hear what sounded like a very loud crash of thunder, it was the ice breaking and falling into the water. How sad.. there really is Global warming!!!

Mike, thnaks for the update!!! Those dogas are adorable.

It is a chilly, but welcomed, 11.7 degrees in Rochester. The clipper system stayed north of Fulton County, which is a blessing for all of us that must shovel/blow/sweep snow from our sidewalks and driveways.

I believe the jury is still out on global warming. For everyone for a good case for global warming you can find a person with a case why there is not global warming. These cycles may run years and anyone reading this wont be around to know the answer. So what is happening may just be a cycle. Many many years from now there may be an ice age - or not.

On global warming and the ice melting. Yes it is and has been for millions of years. We are at the end of an ice age.

Yes! As crazy as it may sound, we are going to fire up the grill today!

We have been craving steak fajitas and I said you know what...we deserve it with braving this cold stuff.

Sure 27 is not warm at all, but it will feel tropical compared to the last few days!

By the way, I finally attempted throwing up boiling water into the sky last night...it was amazing! All the water turned into my own personal mini cloud! I was having so much fun, I ended up making my family watch me do it...yeah they were amazed too. :)

Have a good weekend everyone.

Morning Bloggers! Wow, nice to wake to temps above zero!

A big number of 17* is showing on my wx station:) However the winds are picking up:(

Thank you F/C and Justin for the compliments on my dogs..

I used to be a manager at our local Animal Shelter, and these are my rescue babies.. Sassy, the rust colored one was found in a dumpster, she was 2 weeks old when I took her in and bottled raised her.

Tyton lived at the shelter for over 4 months. I fell in love with him.
Actually I fell in love with all the animals...tough job!

These two dogs are so spoiled, they are confused as to if they canines or humans LOL!

My daughter made sure to it that they were comfy on the sofa. I asked her, "Where are we to sit"?, she stated on "the floor"! LOL

All have a warm day, and cooking on the grill sounds yummy!

The winds in Lafayette are really picking up! I cannot tell if we are getting snow flurries of its just blowing snow, both I think!

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have an idea of what the wind speeds are in Laf??

Down right nasty!wonder what the wind chill is with a temp at 21* above?? My house is cracking and popping from the wind>>>

Anonymous said...

Winds have increased in Fulton County. I was out driving about one hour ago, and the east/west roads were beginning to drift. US 31 had snow blowing across it, but I wonder how long it will be until it starts to get a consistent icy glaze??? In fact, there was an icy glaze at the intersection that I used to turn around. Visibility was good.

It is still cloudy and the temp. has not reached 20 degrees. Therefore, most salt and etc. will not be working.

Be careful!

F/C thanks for your info...At times in Tippecanoe Co. there are white outs at times.. with the stong gusts. I am thinking the same about the roads becoming ice glazed..the snow blowing stings the face!

Hey Fellow Bloggers!

Teri That is a great story ABout your dogs! I know I seen Tyton before but not Sassy! They are Cute!

Mike I like the warmer temperatures! ;) Now maybe I can go out for a bit! Been stuck in doors! lol!

Temperature is 25.7* degrees! Last night I stayed right at zero and then to one degree! Not to bad!

I have also been up last night watch the maps for our little bit for snow to come in this evening! Not much be snow lovers will be happy!

Have a great day and Brow be sure to send me a hot dog or something! :-) Have a great one!

Good afternoon bloggers! Teri, Ty and Sassy are so cute laying there napping! And your story of rescue is warming to the soul.

Wasn't it nice to wake up to warm temps?? it is a balmy 25* right now but wind is making it (to me) feel colder in the house than it has the past two days. I know it is the lack of sunshine coming in the windows. I have cabin fever really bad but dont want to venture out on roads with blowing snow :-( So I have a pot of homemade veggie soup on cooking even though Brow's grilling sounds tempting!

Take care all, will be back later.

MA in REM:
I am like you. I have cabin fever, and I did venture out to the by-pass this morning. Due to the blowing snow, I turned around after eight miles and came home. There really was no reason to be going any place.

I am trying to thaw the water line to the washer. Ugh!!! It is 23 degrees in Rochester, and when I went out to fill the birdfeeders, I just stood there and took in the warmer air.

Thanks gang!

Like most of you I have Cabin Fever as well. I Just retuned from the grocery store, I must say it feels very nice out, even with the wind. Better yet my car finally started, YAY!

The roads in town are in good shape, at least the main roads are.

I have a temp reading of 29.6*, and my house is warm:) Did away with the triple layers of socks I have needed the last couple of days:))

Veggie soup and cooking on the grill both sound wonderful!

I am going to make Cheesy potato soup with ham. Recipe calls for alot of crushed red peppers. Will surely keep us warm in inside and out LOL!

Be safe all.

Oh goodness F/C water line still frozen? dang!

I just spoke with a friend who's water lines were frozen in his bathroom! What a rough way to go:(

He has someone working on them at this time, he stated that they have heaters set up in the room and that the temp feels like 200* in his house.

Gosh,I hope you get your water line thawed soon!!!

Teri

Anonymous said...

F/C I have been in your shoes many times over the years. Not a fun thing to do. Hopefully you can get them thawed w/o a burst pipe.

MMM--Teri those cheese/ham potatoes sound yummy! The veggie soup is on cooking and I also made meat for (and had)a taco salad.

I saw snow blowing by my kitchen window and THAT told me i need to stay home. I live in town! If it is blowing here in town it has to be worse in the open. If it melts enough the snow will form a crust to reduce the blowing.

MA in --well, you know where :-)

Anonymous said...

All this dicussion about food is really making me hungry. The water lines are thawed. YEA!!!!!

Like so many of you, I once again poked my head outside, and it is still blowing snow in town. There were three b-ball games I could have attended tonight, but I would have had to drive 20-25 miles to see any of them. I better just stay home, and this cabin fever will eventually pass.

Have a safe and great evening.

Just left a benefit concert, and yes, Rochester also has freezing drizzle, and the temp. is 24.4 degrees. It was quite heavy on the windshield. The city streets were not slick due to the snow still on the road.

It is ironic that our local radio station's forecast for tonight included freezing drizzle, but neither of the South Bend tv stations, nor the weather channel, mentioned it this morning.

Over night, we received about one half inch of snow in Rochester. Of course, this was on top of the freezing drizzle. I don't think, we had as much freezing drizzle as they did to the south of us.

I hope everyone had a safe evening/night. Like MA stated earlier, this is some winter. It all started with the ice storm the Friday before Christmas, and it seems like it has been one thing after another. I am curious as to when this pattern will break. Also, it would be nice to see our January thaw!!!!!

Morning all,

I am not sure how much snow fell in Lafayette. We are still getting flurries, as of 9:23 am. And everything is covered with ice and snow!

At 10:30 last night, I had to go out to pick my daughter up from bowling ..

My car was free of ice after 15 mins of scraping.

This morning, it icy and snow covered again..blaaa!!

Yes this has been some winter!

On Tues, when the snow was falling, a student approched me in the hall, They stated, "I have a great analogy for this weather, We are stuck in a giant snow globe"!..I thought was cute.

Take care all

Hey everybody! I got an early wake up call last night! Right around 3:30 or 3:40AM There was a housh of fire right across the street from me!

All was OK so good news there. There was soooooooooo much smook I could not even see my tree which is about ten feet from our house! That is how thick it was!

I could not believe it! But again all was OK! There was at least a total of Six ambulance and fire trucks in front of our house! Lights all over flashing.

Got up this morning and they have it all tapped off. I'M just glad all is safe and sound! Never seen that happen so close to my home!

I seen less then a half inch of snowfall last night however it was still a good dusting.
It is currently 19.2* degrees.

All have a safe and great day! Remember Football lovers! Tpday it the champion games! For AFC and NFC. Have a good one.

Justin: I was sadden to hear about the house fire.

I decided to drive down to school and work in my classroom today. The sun is shining and the state highways were not too bad, of course, SR 16 had just recently been treated, and it was not in the best of shapes. It looks like northern Cass County received about as much snow as Fulton County.

I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the sunshine in some way today!!!

We have had 2 house fires across the street from me on each corner. The first one was electric fire and the other was someone was cooking something with oil and caught the housetrailer on fire. Both were to close for comfort. No people were hurt in either fire but the first one had 12 dogs in the house and they all died. The second one had a baby on a matteress right by the stove. But he wasn't hurt. This was at Lake Hideaway at Kingman.

I am not familiar with the R180 program. I am very fortunate, as I teach the high level reading class, and they love to read.

Yes, I travel through LaPaz/Lakeville all the time on my way to New Buffalo. I know it very well. In fact, this week is the annual Bi-County tourney at LaVille H.S., and as we all know, the weather is usually lousy for this week long tourney.
