Super Bowl Storm Will Bring Heaviest Snow Late Tonight and Wednesday Morning

The conference call went as expected and they are closely monitoring our area and may upgrade us to a Winter Storm Warning. They want to hold back a little bit because the storm is still developing and the really heavy bands of snow for us will not develop until later tonight. I am going to keep most of our viewing area in the 5 to 8 inch band and will have the updated snow map and more coming up shortly. This is a huge storm and we will still have to watch it closely. Make sure to keep sending in totals and pictures and we will stay ahead of it! Thanks again for your support.

Mike thanks for all you do to keep us so well informed. My kids love you. During thunderstorms especially they want to know what Mike is saying. It is how they remain calm.

Looks like Northern Warren and Benton Counties snow will soon be coming to a hault soon. 4:30 p.m the Dewpoint is 14 Humidity 78% and the Barometric pressure is 30.23 and falling. This is for Williamsport The dewpoint and humidity shows moisture but where is it going? Barometer is not all that low either, wonder if thats making the dry spot since the pressure isnt low enough to squeeze out anything.

NWS just updated their site 2-4 inches tonight and 1-2 for tomorrow looks like the prediction of 3-6 will hold true! Yea!

Cheers.

looking at NOAA.gov radar it appears the snow is over, snow bands are to the south and just not filling in to the north of Crawfordsville, I am thinking our snow totals will be signifantly lower than posted by several weather sites.

wishing the snow gods would grant all of our wishes....come on prove me wrong

I also am from indy and enjoy your blog mike! i always find that you seem to get things right more often then some of the indy meterologists... not that i am dogging them.. lol but your the man mike.. ( plus i am a frankfort native so its always nice to keep in touch at home. . . ) and for you bloggers who like to keep updated around the state.. you can go to nws.noaa.gov click on indiana and the indy national weather service has a weather blog that they are using to report weather reports around central indiana, both official reports and some public reports.. !!! lets enjoy what snow we do get, no matter how much ends up falling.. and be safe !!! Brandon (southside of indy)... ps.. i have just over 3 inches- been snowing since about noon.

It's a little after 5 o'clock and the snow just east of Frankfort has come to an end for now.
Hopefully it is just a lull in the storm and the heavier snow will begin again tonight.
Meanwhile, it is beautiful.
Hopefully everyone stays safe...especially on the roads. Watch out for the other guy!

We are going to see this Low pressure track into the Ohio valley, Which you could say will push more of the snow our way! Which is when we will see the heavier bands. This is for late tonight into wednesday.

Thanks for all the work in keeping us posted on all the latest weather. You are truly appreciated!

Snowing hard down here in Indy. We have had a small amount of sleet mix in but overall its a heavy snow. I look forward to seeing what mike has to say in his next post. The system to the southwest is very impressive and appears that it could bring some heavy snow to most of Indiana.

My kids are beginning to smell a snow day coming... they are smiley and acting goofy!

justin this is Becky from monticello, you know i run 2 paper routes here, i start out at 2 am, what do you think should i hold off till closer to daybreak ????

Anonymous said...

Becky I now have my radar pulled over to parts of Missouri, and Illinois, and I can see the big heavy bands of snow with ease and Like Mike said Around 11: pm is when we could start to see this heavy snow break out!

I think even if you do wait till daylight it is still going to be slick and even with winds being only around 15 mph this light snow it will still blow! If the snow gets to heavy the roads are not going to be clear for the workers will have there hands full.

These are the facts but you should make the call! For you know how your routes are.

I wish I could tell you more! But roads will be dangerous.

I hope this helps you!

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask me!

Justin.

What do you see as Lafayettes overall snow total as of now? Thanks.

Anonymous said...

For now I think the 5" to 8" inch range will do it!

I feel good about that with the heavy bands coming in to play before long!

Justin.

Snowing like crazy in southern warren county!!

What is the best site for checking road closings from Lafayette to Indianapolis due to weather and accidents? My dad is flying into Indy in about 10 minutes and want to check if there are any on I65?

Anonymous said...

It is still snowing pretty good here in northern Benton County

Anonymous said...

whats with the fog in Laf??

Anonymous said...

oh and the snow seem to be less fluffy!

Anonymous said...

Justin I see those bands coming together and look to be heading north of tipp co

Anonymous said...

If you're heading to Indy, I'd look on the WTHR website that lists all the traffice accidents reported.

Anonymous said...

It is still snown alittle here in monticello. I'd say it looks like maybe about an inch so far but still more on the way. Will post more later on

Anonymous said...

Snowing somewhat heavy here outside of Attica.

Anonymous said...

Way to go Mike!!! I would love to have a Super Bowl Snow of at least 10" or more. The only thing that scares me at this point is that instead of the big flakes like we have been seeing lately, it is a fine wet snow, which will make it far more difficult to shovel and plow. However, beggers can't be choosy, so BRING IT ON!!!

Justin
What do you see as totals along 24 from monticello to logansport

Bob in Idaville

Still snowing here in Monticello, IN and looks like the wind is starting to pick up but I'm guessing we got maybe an inch so far! Let It Snow!

Anonymous said...

I will go with 3" to 5" for that area for now! Still we will watch blowing and drifting snow.

Justin.

I live in Arizona and was turned on to this blog while visiting family, it is part of my daily routine, even though I am miles from Lafayette, Mike Prangley is the best I have ever seen! One snowstorm would be nice, I will be looking for pictures.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...
