Good Morning! Heading Out to Shovel Snow & Get Ready for Snow Day

Good job bloggers! Send me some pictures and snow totals. I turned in at about 3 a.m. last night knowing my little ones would have a snow day so at least I have a little bit of rest. I am going out to measure and shovel my wife out so she can get to work. Then I am going to get the sleds ready! Everything seemed to work out in the forecast and I am glad I had you out there to keep everybody up to date and safer as this storm really set in. Thanks for letting me get a few hours sleep bloggers. Now it is up and at em! I will be back with some totals. It does look like we are between 5 and 6 inches here on the southside of Lafayette. Be safe and HAVE FUN!

Just got back from snowmobiling on the south side, snow is the perfect consistency!! Plowed out a few driveways and winds are picking up, some drifted back shut so had to go back twice, not so much the wind but the powder is easily moved. JUST FREAKIN AWESOME!!

you rock mikey.....love the snow

My school closed!!!! I am so relieved. Now, I can shovel my drive-way and sidewalk.

Snow is still falling in Rochester. I noticed on radar, that it is even snowing in Michigan, and the toll road and etc. are slick. I guess, there will be no trip to New Buffalo today.

Tipp co level 3 emergency and still school for lsc!!!!

Anonymous said...

I am keeping my kids home today. Can't believe lSC is still having school under a level 3. Anybody know the conditions of I65 southbound? Fiance is suppose to go to Frankfort this morning.

Rochester and Warsaw have closed school. I am really surprised that any schools are in session south of Fulton County. I say this, due to the fact, that I have four inches of snow and it is still falling. Plus, the winds are increasing, and I am located north of most of you. I can only imagine what it is like as one travels south.

I hope all students and staff members are safe in their travels today. In fact, I hope everyone has a safe travel day.

Mike,
Wouldn't it be easier to first shovel out your wife, and then measure her? :)

M husband also works in Frankfort he said 65 South is going about 50 MPH. Everyone needs to just be causious, and remember to let those snow plows do their job !

I also have one more thing to say ! I want to know for the few of those that were down right rude enough to come on Mike's blog page to leave their nasty comments about Mike and his ability to read a radar. WHERE are you now ? You should be on here NOW leaving an apology, or didn't our mothere teach you better than that !!!
This is not a MYSPACE website and these are people from a community who respect EVERYONE ! Let's keep the negativity off of this page !
I am in Dayton and it is all about 5 inches here in my yard maybe a tad more, My daughters are lovin' it ! Thanks Mike !!!

Good morning, bloggers! Thanks William for that snow measurement here in Rem. I just swept off the steps and deck, got out the trusty ruler and got 3 inches on the nose. It is actually still snowing lightly.

The wind has picked up some and is moving that fluffy white snow around.

C in T I am a CoCoRaHS observer and in turning in my morning report I see the town of Atlanta in Tipton Co turned in 6.7 in new snow.

5 inches in Monticello and still snowing here...schools all around me canceled. Looks like Im staying home too not driving to lafayette with a level 3 snow emergency!! i agree i would be keeping my children home too with that warning out!!

William said...

In Rensselaer looks like 2.5"

William said...

The snow in Rensselaer looks to have more moisture in it than the snow at remington?? That odd.

Yeah, so what was the big deal with the negativity anyway? Mike told us what to expect days before the national and big city forecasters caught onto it. And he was right. As for the times the forecast didn't pan out to reality, well all I can say is that if we could see into the future and predict every future event, then we wouldn't be working our day jobs, now would we!? Nature is the last thing that's 100% predictable. I, for one, rely on Mike's blogs over ANYTHING I see on the national services. And here in Frankfort, we got every bit of what he forecasted.

Thanks, Mike, for the continued good job!

we are measuring 7 inches at the daycare if downtown laf. The roads are horrible and and we are still open... WOA.... Kinda crazy

Just talked to all my staff, lafayette roads are a mess, logansport has about 5 inches and up in Indy/Sheridan my boss told me she has 11 inches at her house! Looks like Indy got it bad! Have a fun snow day and stay safe everyone!!

We're at 6 inches here in Battle Ground...and it's still coming down steadily!

Hard to believe LSC schools are in. Although, I remember as a kid growing up in Benton County it took a lot more than this to x-cell school (or it seemed like it). If the winds pick up a lot I'm more skeptical of the drive home. This snow is going to move very easily. Thanks Mike for the awesome forecast, I've been looking forward to this all season.

Just got in from shoveling my sidewalk. I am just east of Frankfort in the Michigantown area. It is breathtakingly beautiful outside.
Measured several places in my yard, and average is 7 1/2 inches.

Isn't it usual that the winds pick up on the backside of a strong Low Pressure system?
If so, this is the type of snow that will really kick up some mighty drifts.
Any indication on that wind factor yet?

Oh boy here we go again lol The only thing i find unbelievable is that lsc didnt close down that is crazy!

Measured 6 inches exactly on the nose. Still lightly snowing. Anyone know how much we're supposed to get on Thursday? I've heard it's not supposed to be as much as this one, but I'm not sure.

MA,

Are you feeling better today?

Anonymous said...

Mike I just posted 4.7 that was a typo I have 4.8" inches of snow! Just wanted to let you know.

Added with the snow I already have on the ground I have a total of 5.0" inches.

Justin.

I appriciate the 3-8 inch forecast, since i live in Monticello and travel between Lafayette, Logansport and Indy for work. I have to know what is going on all around me so I can decide if i should take a snow day or drive in it! Thanks, Mike!

William! Thanks for asking. I am better but sore in the rib cage area from "you know what". I found out several people from our church have this, too, so am wondering if someone shared the bug last Sunday :-)
