Northward Trend Continues & Things on Track for the Snow

Before I go bowling I do have a weather update. The snow is coming....no matter what you see on The Weather Channel which is still calling for mainly dry and sunny weather next week and no matter what you hear on your Weather Radio be ready next week. Our target zone of 6 to 8 inches I set last night for two systems appears right on track. Tuesday the snow will begin and another wave moves in Thursday. Congratulations snow geese and yes this does include Frankfort so make sure you e-mail Randy Rogers ASAP!! Time to get out the sleds.

Mike, Is that 6 to 8 inches per each system or total for both?
Thanks

And just when I was starting to get some good form...

back to the trainer and rollers I guess.

The weather gal WLFI borrowed from their sister station in Indy was on the news at 6 and really didn't fully endorse Mike's opinion on the snow. You would think everyone on the same station would all be on the same page.

I read it to be a total of 6-8 inches for both storms. Of course, I could be wrong.

who is randy rogers mike??

Mike I just went through the models and I agree! They have changed from last night for the better if you like snow! So far it is going as planed. We will not let our guards down and always be ready! But I like our chances!

I currently have 3" to 6" with that chance for more!!!

Also starting on Tuesday and going through Wednesday.

I might have to get out the snowboard out! ;) lol.

I will be up late again tonight to stay on top of things! When systems like this one come in I don't get much sleep!

Why is no one else predicting this? Are they afraid to be wrong. Or do they just not commit enough time to studying? haha

Anonymous said...

Yes, I would like to know about that too? Why is that other sites or news does not provide this kind of detail. Why are they not explaining all of this too? I know mike mentioned not to listen to other places, but are we that confident in this? :) This is indiana were talking about.

That's great news Mike and Justin!! I hope we really do get the 6-8 inches!! I just think that the other stations are afraid to be wrong or they just don't have the experience to see what is going to happen. Great job guys, we appreciate it and keep the updates coming!!

Anonymous said...

Maybe others just see it differently and that's the way they are calling it. One things for sure. Someone will be right. And Mike is due.

Anonymous said...

Justin, are you saying that you see us in the 3-6 inch range and not Mike's 6-8 inch..or did I read your post wrong..not a put down!! I dont understand what you were posting...

Thanks

Anonymous said...

Its ok no problem! I agree with mikes! I just feel better at this time going with the 3" to 6" inch range I do see a good chance for more! And I feel I can add on later as we get closer!

Thanks for asking! ;)

Justin.

Has anyone checked out the "Forecasts" section at WLFI today? It seems that there are 2 forecasts for Thursday. One of the days is forecasting a sandstorm. If they decided you change it you can check it out at this link.

Hey Justin,

This is one crazy system to track.. are your eyes getting tired? LOL

What happend to the winds that we were to get, any idea??

Teri

Anonymous said...

Hey Teri! I had winds forecasted today between 10 and 15 mph for today. Don't know if we even got that much though.

About my eyes! I'M ok so far lol..... I know Mike is lacking sleep! I get tracking a system like this and I lose track of what time it is! Ha Ha.....

Glad to hear you are feeling better! I have been lucky flu wise! Knock on wood!

Justin.

Sounds like all you weather watchers need a coffee bag with an IV drip....lol.

Anonymous said...

no coffee, green tea for me..and no drip needed.

I am a weather watcher and love it as "some" bloggers do..

There is not much on TV, kids are asleep, I finished my book..and now following the weather.

I am totally in for another BLIZZARD, sounds good doesn't it ?
And to say that I work at for TSC. Not needing a break, just some tons of snow fun for all the kiddies here in our area. Keep up the posts and I will keep up the praying for the kids a great snow day !!!

Anonymous said...

Justin, I know it is fun tracking this weather system ..just think not long before we will be in for T-storms:(

I dread severe thunder storms!

You are lucky to have avoided the flu, keep you fingers crossed it stays that way!

I am not feeling any better, perhaps I do need an IV drip of fluids, not coffee though!

Going to try to get some sleep.. I will be checking in, for I feel I will be up and down all night.

Take care, and will see you all here later.

Teri

I still want to know who is Randy Rogers???:)

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Get well soon Teri!! The flu takes a lot out of you!

I don't get flu shots I don't like them! But I have been lucky for the past few years! And Yes I to hope it stays that way! Just stay on your side of town! lol ;) Just jokeing! lol.....

Have a good night!

Justin.

Do I need to stock up on bread and milk for Thursday's Sandstorm?!?

Or do I just need extra hummus and falafel?

Anonymous said...

To further reiterate my previous comment, the NOAA is not predicting anything along with Accutrac, I have also found another private midwesterner snow lover by the name of John Dee, he has a great webiste also. Please help me understand where you are getting your maps?

Anonymous said...

sandstorm??? what the*&^%??? who predicted this??? This has to be some sort of a typo or something.
Thats like I the weather set through yahoo on my computer and the other night at like 11p it said the temp was 53 when it was like really 27! wishful thinking maybe? But again, that cracks me up on the sandstorm thing for thurs. forcast...who knows we could be in for a tsunami watch come monday!!=)

Anonymous said...

I like the sandstorm thing....that could be fun!! I have been in one in AZ....

I'd like to know too! WHO IS RANDY ROGERS?? Will the real Randy Rogers PLEASE STAND UP?!?

I agree with Mike....one reason that we are going to see a good snowy week is that the models have a southern bias....they are taking the low or waves further south than what they will track.

Who was the forecaster on WLFI that they borrowed from WISH???

OK Bloggers I just got done looking at more maps and past storms and I still like our chances for a bigger snow! There for a while Baton Rouge LA, had more snow then we did with four inches! But we at least got that earlier this year. So up to this point around four inches has been our big snow this year and I think we are do for a bigger snow!

Also I was looking at the blizzard of 78 and it is the anniversary of that blizzard. Which started on the 25th through the 27th of this month. However I don't see us getting a another 1978 storm this time around I just thought that would be someting you all would like!

I do think mikes 6" to 8" inches is likely! And like I said the models have already showed this system moving more north then they where yesterday so as of now things still look good for snow!

I would keep the shovels ready! We all will keep everybody posted!

For now I should try to catch some ZZZZZZZZZZZ's And I will see you all later on today! Have a good one! I think I will be seeing the maps and models in my sleep! LOL..... oh well I will stay on top! Ha Ha.....

Have a good one.

Justin.

Thanks...Justin....your updates are greaT!

Anonymous said...

Mike...I trust you...but am becoming worried as I see that every other weather source I use has the system's jackpot being in far southern IN...why won't other weather sources agree with you? What do you think about these?

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the update Justin!! I was trying to stay up for one more before turning in. I'm pumped that you are still seeing lots of snow. I can go to bed and dream of what lies ahead. Man, I have been waiting for a big one all year as I know all snow-lovers have!! I just happen to have Tuesday off work so I can get out and enjoy the snow!!

Anonymous said...

I don't want snow!! Sorry Mike.. but, I hope you are wrong on this one. Bring on spring!

Anonymous said...

Justin: Thanks for your updates and your time.

Quick Question: The weather channel is showing this system staying more to the south. How far north will the heavy snowfall be? In another words, will Fulton County be affected, or will it be one of those storms that we hear "the farther south you travel, the worse it will be"?

Thanks,
F/C

A cloudy morning..all the radars show that it is snowing in Laf...nothing is reaching the ground though.

A temp of 9* humdity 63% due point
-3...

One of the two South Bend stations just showed their model, which is showing the heaviest band of Tuesday's snow through the WLFI viewing area.

I remember last year how a system was to stay to the south of Fulton County, but it tracked differently; it came farther north. We received the 10 inches of snow, while Cass County only received 2-4 inches. I kept waiting for the two-hour delay phone call, but it never came. Needless to say, there were three teachers, who lived in Fulton/Marshall County that never made it to school in Cass County that day.

On a more positive note, the 16 day outlook shows more normal temps. starting later in the week and continuing into the first week of February.

It shows a balmy 8 degrees here. Something must be coming. I have 30+ deer on our back ridge behind our house and they are eating like a herd of cattle. I have seen them everytime before we get bad weather. I look forward to seeing what becomes of this system. Are we to get alot of wind with this system? We all ready are going to have to make up school days here for Twin Lakes, I am guessing with being off for the ice before Christmas and the cold when they went back. Thanks for the info, I am learning alot and now kind of researching to see what I can figure out. Any ideas to help out someone very new to this but interested in learning more about it all?

It's been snowing a couple of hours in western Benton County. It's not coming down hard, but with the haze I can barely see a wind mill thats a half mile from here.Hardly any wind, although the windmills are turning.
