Alright...no it is not true...I am not in hiding, we still have snow on the way and it does look like our 3 to 6 inch band will come out closer to 3 inches for areas north of Lafayette near Monticello with heavier amounts for Lafayette, Frankfort, and Crawfordsville. I am waiting for more runs and a conference call. I would think a winter weather advisory will be issued for at least portions of our area late tonight through late tomorrow night and Wednesday morning. More snow will be possible on Thursday. I will be back.

I'm with you ACF
Gotta brand new cat in the garage just waiting to go play!
Mike, I truly enjoy your enthusiasm for your work and your dedication as a weather man. We are blessed in Lafayette to have you. Mike in Brookston
Mike,
Can't wait to hear the latest. Hoping for up to 6", but being a snow lover, I'll take what I can get!
Still think Lafayette will end up with the highest snow totals like you said yesterday Mike? Close to 3 inches doesn't sound like thats gonna get it done?
That's it, I'm moving to Wisconsin, they always get snow up there. This winter has been horrible for snow, I hate it!!
I, for one, appreciate the heads up on possibilities of heavy snow for the sake of safety! For that, I can handle the letdown of not getting so much.
I'll start the chant, "SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!"
Hey Mike glad to see you. If we can't have a white winter maybe a stormy summer??? LOL
When do sectionals start? We always end up with some sort of big snow around that time.
yes...snow snow snow!
But if only it were up to us!
Thanks Mike for everything!
It is still only January...there is plenty of time for a sweet snowstorm.
another dud they should just say a chance of snow what ever we get we get.
One of the best snowstorms in my memory....not a blizzzard mind you....came Feb 27, 1984. 10" snow and good wind!! Kept this 7th grader home for a week!! That Feb 14, it was 70 and we were riding our bikes!!
YES.....plenty of time....

weather.com showing most of IN 3-6 with central-southern IN 6-12 inches. looks like the system is starting to change some forecasts by moving northward.
The heads up on snow is great. But time after time of being wrong and it's going to be like the kid that cried wolf.
Hey Artic Cat boys, I gotta nice vintage yamaha that needs cleaning out, if we get some snow, come to south of lafayette and lets do some drift bustin.

Hey there ACF, I've got some toys to play with too. The picture on Mike's Blog from December of 2007 is my wife riding my F1000. I'm feeling pretty good about larger amounts of snow on this latest track. It's been my experience that these storms tend to slow down and track north a bit farther than the models. A nice 4 inches on top of what we have will let us do a bit of ditch banging at least, and more would just make it better. Anyway, keep safe out there and wish us luck!

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW, oh where are you ?????????
Better try predicting dark!
Yeah there is a wide a variety of snow ranges in that blog 3-6, 6-8, and now a lousy 3 inches.
Kinda crazy!!!

Darn! Where is our 3-6 inches??
Mike or Justin..how many miles does the system need to shift north to get us a good 3-6"? It looks like it is moving north. South of Indy will get the brunt of the storm. But still could push north & increase are numbers. Hopefully!
Cheers.
I could be alone here but I'M still going with the 3" to 6" range. If it move even 50 to 100 miles north it could add to our amounts. We just have to keep watching it.
Justin.

I have to say....I know that you didn't ask me....if the storm could shift 30-50 miles....we'd for sure be in a 6" potential. AS IT IS RIGHT NOW....2" is too conservative.....5" probably a good average for most in the advisory....

Thanks Chris. I've been looking at different maps and those are the numbers I was hoping for. Does anyone have a good idea for when it will start. I thought I heard after 10 but can anyone be more specific?
Cheers
Agree with all on the northerly shift, but this sucker could just as easily drift back south. It will do what it wants.
I was hoping for a snowstorm like 17.5 inches we got in Feb of 2007 that was awesome. Come on storm track go NORTH
Chris, what do you think for up in carroll County. Accuweather said possible 2-5 with an additional inch tomorrow night. But the warning only said 3.8. I am all for the snow, cause now I am seeing the winter nasty grass in the yard from the prev. melt off

Hi all, I just got in from work, and was not surprised to see that a winter weather advisory had been issued!
My the blog has been busy..
