I am concerned about a supercell thunderstorm moving into our viewing area after 5 p.m. You can also head to weather on demand in the weather section for more safety tips. Stay safe.

Really cool to see inside the WLFI headquarters for that.
I bet your wife gets tired of you telling her about the weather? I am a Web Developer and I am always telling my wife where and how to click on things around the web. Heehe.
Gonna try to slip out of work earlier today so that I can make it home before the nasty stuff hits.
Really enjoyed the behind the scenes of what you do at work! How cool! I love thunderstorms, and am actually glad to see one finally come to our area (as long as everyone is safe of course!) Thanks for the video! Also will actually my new CoCoRaHS rain gauge will get a workout tonight! Finally! Cant wait to post something besides 0.00 inches!
Justin, I just purchased a new weather radio, having trouble programing it,when yours went off , where is the warning? LOOKS AS IF IT IS 9:00PM WHERE I LIVE, VERY DARK! CLOUDS LOOKING ODD
Hey everyone I'm not at home in Lafayette right now so would love to get some updates on what's going on down there. So far it looks like there have been 2 tornado warnings and 2 severe tstorm warnings already with two more tornadic cells to the west and approaching shortly? Any damage reports?
Shortly after 7pm a co-worker & I witnessed rotation in the clouds above the Purdue/Village/Chauncey Hill Mall areas and we had lost power at work shortly after.
Driving home during a lull in the storm (I live near the TV 18 studios), every traffic light was out. Power was out about 99% of the way home. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remind the viewers to treat any traffic light that is out as if it was a 4-way stop: I nearly got side-swiped 3-4 times just crossing US 52 at Yaeger Rd. and I did see a cop go after someone who did that at the corner of Northwestern & Stadium!
I don't know if you have peeked your head out of the station resently but there is strong inflow just above WL right now. In laymans terms the storm is tracking one direction and the low level clouds are moving in the oppisite direction as the storm sucks them up...
Here in Lafayette no real tree damage that I can see, but lots of bird nests and babies blown out of the trees. We have more storms on the way, thundering and raining! Radar looks wild!
here in lafayette we are starting up again with alot of lightning and some thunder. the weather radio has been doing it's job keeping me informed as well as mike prangley I have been watching WLFI all this time. Thank you WLFI.
Thanks to Mary Ann for the rainfall amounts, wish I had a rain gauge, for if this were snow we would be digging out for a long time. Glad you are safe, wonder If Bulls/Bears have power and took this weather system seriously??? Hope they are safe as well. And their ribs on the bbq were cooked before rain soaked.
You always provide the best coverage during any storm...tonight you have gone above and beyond, I am not sure how long you have been on continuous, I sure hope you get some dinner. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to your viewing area.
Hey Mike I couldn't see the coverage tonight as I'm in Michigan right now but can't wait for your next blog post to get all the information about what I missed. Thanks.
I agree with Justin, thanks Mike and Steve, you gave everyone advanced warnings, and thank you both with staying with us on TV, your the best! The people that post on this blog did a wonderful job as well. Hope everyone gets a peaceful nights sleep.
Excellent Job tonight by the WLFI Weather Team !!!! It was so comforting to see Mike & Steve working together for us once again during a busy evening of dangerous storms! I love Mike to pieces, but Steve was there for us the night of the April 1994 tornado and it is just adds another bit of comfort to me when he comes back. Thanks again and let us hope and pray these events are rare or better yet non existent the rest of the season !!! Prangley & Shearer team # 1 ~ Way to Go !!
I won't spoil the surprise, but when that happens it always rains...
Thanks to Mike yes I had my 7 yr 5 yr and 14 month old girls in the bathroom, with pillows and blankets. I saw the clouds with slight rotation directly over my house.
As of right now(11pm) my line from Decatur Il to Muncie has formed...(can I take a little credit?)
Though our rain did form...well we at Bear/Bull can't be correct all the time.. Afterall it's mothernature I am trying to second guess.
Danger for the surrounding area is about done, though, I just heard a big rumble(north Tipp Cnty)... Time for me to tuck Mrs Bear in bed(I think she would object to being Mrs Bull(that would be a cow)...
BEAUTIFUL storm tonight, but sorry to hear about damage in battle ground.
we were cleaning a place just off of creasy lane shortly after 7pm this evening and the tornado sirens went off. we were instructed to go to their severe weather shelter, so i didn't really get a chance to see the storm!! :( but better safe than sorry!!
luckily here at our home on 18th street there isn't any damage and our power never went out(according to the babysitter). i'm gald that everyone made it through the storm ok and (to my knowledge) there aren't any deaths or serious injuries! (But i can't but admit that i was totally stoked about FINALLY getting a big storm!!!)
keep up the great work mike and steve! i know our family really appericate everything you do!! Now go get some sleep! you deserve it! (thank goodness you don't have to use the cots!!!)

A break in the rain so I went to the official NWS gauge and dumped out 1.85 inches rain. We had no wind with this, it came straight down.
More coming from the west.

Ribs were excellent... finished just in time for the wind to kick up....
We here at Bull/Bear Forecasting are always trying to tweak our forecasting abilities. On my way home I saw the error in my ways...
